thank you Sean for leaving some money on the table and getting it done so early |

Again, very nice deal.
Doesn’t excuse some of Fletcher’s stupidity this off-season, but this is a true positive. |

Any NMC or NTC? - hello it's me 2050
searching hard for a way to spin this in a bad light. coots, like giroux, obviously doesn't think winning is a priority.

In other news, from an alternate universe...Sean Couturier's agent proposes a contract to Chuck Fletcher, 8 years x $7.75M/year. Chuck Fletcher declines and Sean Couturier leaves via trade at the deadline.
The Evil Within posts on a fan message board:
What an idiot Fletcher is, he just took the one piece that means the most to this team right now and ripped him away. Should have paid him. |

correct. |

Wow under contract for 9 more years till age 38....This contract isnt going to age well at all...He didnt take a discount he just got his salary spread over a longer period of time by giving him 8 yrs on top of his 1 remaining year...With a couple of knee injuries in the past and having limited speed to start with back half of this contract gonna be a killer. |

He is already the slowest forward in NHL history. After he passing 30 soon. How will he fare in a ultrafast young NHL? I smell a giant and another flyer cap anchor - Hackman10
Relax, let's enjoy it when the wind is fair. Flyers not supposed to win anyway.

This is terrific! Coots once again goes team friendly. Amazing under 8. Getting G for around 5M would work.

The same folks griping about the term would be griping instead about cap hit had it been something several seasons shorter. |

no, no Bill they could have negotiated a better contract, easily got it done for 5 years. This has to be true they have told us so with every contract CF has done this off-season

This isn’t a deal to gripe about.
Ristolainen, Thompson, and Brassard? Sure. Retaining AV and his lackeys? Even more.
Couturier deal is a win.
