I continue to not understand the Canes thought process as well. As a Wings fan, I’m not going to complain about their “rationale” in goal is concerned.
The one thing that cracks me up is the $20 signing bonus. So you know this is all sour grapes from the Aho OS. It definitely puts the Habs in a bind, if they match, they will be up against the cap this season and will have to qualify him next season at 6.1 (still up against the cap),plus have Suzuki up for a new contract. If they walk, they are down 2 centers (with Danault moving on). I don’t know that Habs system that well (players etc). But if they walk, they will have Suzuki, Paquette and Evans as the only 3 centers signed and currently expected to be on the roster. They have a lot of $$ tied up in every position but center.

What kills me is this will put Carolina over the cap. They want to IR Gardiner (may not be able to) but have to drop a couple million in salary. They really needed wingers, so I don’t get the push here. Montreal for sure has issues up the middle. Having to match or beat that 6.1m next year makes me think MTL is better to move on. |

Wings should offer sheet Petey for $8.2M x 5
Compensation is a 1st, 2nd and a 3rd. |

It is all a clown show, but it is fun to watch from the outside looking in. This is an extremely dull time of year if you aren't into prospect camps and fringe free agent signings.

I agree with you on the Canes. I have to wonder if they fully believe that the Habs will match the offer. Also, they may be more focused on trying to put the screws to the Habs they aren’t seeing the pile of crap right in front of them that they are putting themselves in if they don’t match. |

Preach. I’ve been analyzing draft charts for 2 days when this went down. I have to admit, it made for a lot more fun writing than what I was working on….
I have about 4 non posted that aren’t really that interesting (just exercises in working/writing). This is as much fun as the old days of my parent’s company picnics when they had kegs ready at 10 a.m. and the warehouse crew snuck out during smoke breaks. |

I think you’re onto something. Habs issue with Drouin could free up all of his cap again (not sure what is going on). For his 5.5 and saving this 6 they should be able to get something done |

I endorse this 100%. - Only_A_Ladd Habs would be center starved, so they can't offer an NHL center.
I imagine the Canes 1st and 3rd, Pouling, Primeau and Romanov would get Eichel....maybe.

Possible
Drouin has a M-NTC. Don’t know the specifics, and if he would make it easy to be moved
I see the Sabres asking for Suzuki or Caufield. |

Drouin has a 3 team no-trade list, I imagine BS is on it!

RIP the concept of the company picnic. Those used to be the best. I worked in a mail room at a law firm during summers as a kid. This sh!t show company picnics or outings to the racetrack were great learning lessons for a 12 year old kid. That and the diminished importance of FM radio are things our youngsters really are deprived of these days. |

Thanks for that info
I don’t see the Sabres doing the Habs any favors here. You are talking about division rivals. If they trade E to the Habs, they are going to want the Habs to take a hit back (ie a top player). |

He is short a center and the Canes are trying to pry another one from him! The Canes do not need him, maybe they flip him to Buffalo or NYR for a 1st and a #4-5 prospect???

It was amazing. They were giving out prizes, had softball games and a dance floor with DJ. stayed all day, ate a ton of food and watched mom hide the car keys from dad (over served is the term). It was like a carnival! |
