Chara's skillset is far better than Greene's. Chara brings the physicality that Greene lacks. I would also say his offensive upside is great too.

When not on the third pairing, Zdeno could keep Parise company in the press box.

I think you’re wildly underestimating the ability of both Parise and Chara. Both will be cogs on the wheel. Neither are expected to be their 28 year old selfs. Both can still contribute.

The isles just added to yuge pieces to the cup puzzle. Something Garth Snow wasn’t able to do.

Chara is an asset in front of the net. How many games he has left is yet to be seen?

Yes two pieces who are established NHLers, to a team that took the Bolts to a game 7, without their captain and now with the additions of Chara and Parise…..both of whom can play any role given to them. The PP and PK are both better with these two signings. Specials teams wins championships, so yeah two yuge pieces.

I think also worth noting is the fact that Parise and Chara signed with the isles. Those guys I’m sure had other offers and chose the isles as their destination. They wanna win, and clearly they believe the isles are their best chance at winning.

The team plays the right way and has the right leadership, Lou has turned the image of this franchise around completely

Play Bolduc, Salo and Hickey to rest Z and Greene at least 20 games and they may make it into May or June.

Not sure what your point is because Parise is going to be 3rd line LW to start the season. Uncle Leo may spell him from time to time, but Parise will be the starter.

Other things Garf wasn't able to do:
Competently manage players
Reign in his ego
Hire a good coach
Tie his shoes
Dress appropriately for his exit interview

I know it's been beaten to death, but the image of the franchise before Lou was a clown show. Lou has brought stability and credibility to the organization. Which in turn has also changed the image 180°. What a tremendous turnaround in only 3 years.

Travis Zajac signed a one-day contract with the Devils and announced his retirement. He will remain with the Devils' organization in an on/off-ice player development and consulting role, while also working to grow the club’s youth hockey initiatives.

He seems like a good dude, but it was clear his days of being a useful player were behind him at that point. I was legitimately afraid that if we re-signed him he'd be playing over Wahlstrom.
