Karine Hains: Canadiens drop 1st of 6 Exhibition Game The Habs lost their first preseason game of the year today by a score of 4-1 and the Leafs also dominated the shootout taking it 2-1.

I always say the preseason didn't matter, but boy did they look... Disorganised... for most of the game. Glad we didn't get shut out, that's the only thing I hate to see. The players didn't seem to show up until the 3rd period, at least not in a team effort. I know things will come together, but right now, hey, at least it's hockey!

Will likely be a train wreck til they get down to 30 players or so... not everyone is familiar with the systems and playing with each other.

At that point, can start early judging and seeing how different lines look.

Disorganized is putting it mildly......first game, and not anywhere near the full NHL roster (Leafs were closer to one though) and losing this game will get the pundits yapping about how Montreal won't make the PO's. Hab's goalies, one was unlucky and one was lucky.....neither will be on the NHL roster. Hab's defence.....scary.....Romanov needs to be physical, or he is pretty ineffective....it is that simple. Caufield.....he gets 3-4 chances every game, and he is going to score a bunch, as will Toffoli and Suzuki.

I am not sold on Ducharme......but they bought him for three years, so fingers crossed, eh

As someone who was certainly never shy about critiquing Drouin before, good on him for having the courage to share a very personal thing that's stigmatized by some. I'm still doubtful we're going to see him skating into the slot or the boards for puck retrieval, but I genuinely hope he succeeds.

Everything has to go right for them to make the playoffs. Bergevin went the direction of buying when he acquired Dvorak, but they need more to cement a playoff spot and do damage when they get there. I'd say I'm more optimistic than most about him, but he's defintiely not any better than a lower end second line center.

Who cares about the preseason lol. It shouldn't even be discussed about, no one on the team cares and there's no consequences for losing all the games if a team chooses to.

Also everything must go right or they're going to finish just below a wild card spot, ie Price has to be decent the whole year, Dvorak has to work out well, and the defense has to some how work even though it's clearly worse than last year's.
