Thanks Trevor.
Whom do you think will make the cut for the bottom D pairing this year?

Shame. T’was the best period of the game. - Wildschwein
Hey Piggy, how's it hanging?
I made bacon. Cured it and smoked it myself, used mesquite wood. Need sI am mule-ing down some pink curing salt to start my own scientific culinary experiments. |

Depends if Sutter wants to stick with one offensive defenceman and one defensive defenceman on each pairing. If that’s the case then Gudbranson or Stone on one side and Valimaki or Kylington on the other.
Mackey has looked pretty good. He deserves to start as the 7th, but there is a lot of competition. |

I be good. Yourself?
Well you must be good too. Homemade bacon certainly suggests so. |

"complaining about the dangerous nature of the trip when he’s barrelling full speed at the opposing goalie is ignoring common sense."
What an embarrassment of a comment
Are you saying that forwards should not skate full speed towards the opposing net? Do you think that WITHOUT the trip from Tanev that McD would have barelled into Markstrom on his own? Do you know how many times he's skated full speed at an opposing goalie in his career and actually hit him? Probably 0. How about your goon dmen stop getting beat wide by him? Maybe that will work instead of kneeing and tripping and harpooning. What a hack writer for a hack franchise. |

McDavid is a whiner
Every news outlet in Canada is running with McDavid’s complaint about being tripped by Chris Tanev while driving the net. He’s right in that it should have been assessed a two minute penalty, but complaining about the dangerous nature of the trip when he’s barrelling full speed at the opposing goalie is ignoring common sense. It’s going to be a dangerous play no matter what if he makes the decision to drive that hard to the net.
Almost all star players have gripes about particular offenses that are routinely overlooked by officials. It is not uncommon for star players to bring these offenses to the forefront during preseason and during the early part of the season. More often, the player's agent will complain to the league. This is a strategy to increase player productivity and reducing the risk of personal injury. This is usual strategy, not whining.
With the dressing room divide unresolved it already appears it will be another troublesome season for the Flames.
While it is easy to understand TN's confusion here, as it has been a while since the Flames have had an elite player, it appears he is whining on this issue, not the McDavid camp. |

McDavid has always been a whiner, he should put up or shut the puck up. |

What does that even mean? Are you suggesting that every time he's tripped, he should fight? His complaints are valid. Just like how it was valid when Gaudreau was getting chopped every time he had the puck and complained about it.
The whole point is to get the refs to call the penalties they're supposed to be calling. If they called the game properly, the whining would stop.
The Flames lost last night because of the idiotic decision to challenge the goal. I don't even think the replay team bothered to answer the phone. Maybe Sutter doesn't know about the delay of game penalty when you lose. |

Pretty sure if McDavid doesn't get tripped he buries the puck and doesn't even touch the goalie. He's done that numerous times. This isn't some 4th line grinder charging the net. Bad take. |

Wow. What a brutal take.
So, McDavid shouldn't skate fast to the net because somebody might try to injure him?
Your logic:
Baseball players shouldn't stand in the batter's box because the pitchers might throw balls at their heads.
NASCAR drivers should slow down if they are fighting for a lead lest one bumps the other.
Soccer players...naw.
Rugby players should not enter the ruck in case another player pulls at their ears.
Football players should not jump for balls lest they get tackled mid-air.
Ugh. |

Mackey is waivers exempt and at the end of the day he probably goes to Stockton to start the season.

Pretty sure your right he does bury the puck if he doesn't get tripped.... also pretty sure any D man wanting to stay in the league cant let him go to the net untouched. Conor and Oiler fans need to realize that he is the best player in the world but he does not get to wear a yellow non contact jersey because of that!

Pretty sure we're not saying he should never get touched but that the people who are calling him a whiner for calling out bush league plays are imbeciles. Tanev is beat, much like Gio was a few years back and had no reason to make that play. What happens if he goes into Markstrom the wrong way and Markstrom misses half the year (Ala the Roli incident in the 06 final). Is that McDavid's fault? No, it's the bush league defenseman's fault for making a bone headed desperation play when he's already beat. |

No what I'm saying is McDavid is a whiny baby, you compete in hockey do you think Tanev should've just stopped skating instead of competing. BTW I don't care about the score last night because the Flames won't even make the playoffs this year.

If I'm Tanev and the best player in the world walks around me I might have to just accept that and hope my goalie bails me out. The alternative is...make a cheap shot play that not only endangers McDavid, but also my own goaltender. Sorry. That's bush league, just like Giordano. Maybe if a guy gets a breakaway opponents should throw their sticks and helmets to prevent a goal. How about a sniper on the bench with a paintball gun? Clowns. |

Taking out opponents legs is not competing its just being lazy after you got beat. If not Mcdavid whp would the league listen to? No one cares if Dube says there needs to be change but if Mcdavid says it we all talk about it. |

Thanks Trevor I agree.
Conner McBaby
Tanevs play wasn't intentional, he tripped himself. McBaby does that play every game, he expects everyone to just give him that ice. If he doesn't want to be hit or slashed or grabbed, then maybe he should stop cutting to the net like that. He's whining to bring attention to the fact that he was knocked down, poor poor Conner.
All these Oiler fans coming to his rescue is hilarious. Which one of you is his mom? |

Mrs. McBaby?

Oilers, their fans, and their media are the biggest (frank)ing whiners ever
Nobody in the league gets a free pass to the net go (frank) yourselves. Look at Boyd against Jonathan Quick tonight. Almost the exact same play and Quick pounds the poop out of Boyd afterwards.
Driving the net at 100MPH (in a (frank)ing preseason game) is stupid. McBaby is going to get injured again if he keeps playing so recklessly.
No special treatment buddy, sorry. Put the pegs back into the ice.
Gaudreau got slashed in the hands and had to leave the game and this is the story lol |

Maybe you just didnt understand. I cant think of too many players in the NHL like McDavid that can turn on a dime like a UFO doing 90 MPH. If you watch the replay, Tanev was in front of McDavid when he suddenly shifted direction toward the net. Split second for any Dman to react. Their first thought is to stop McDavid, there is no time to intentionally plan a dirty play with intent to injure. That's what makes McDavid such a dangerous & best player in the league. Instead of whining about the player & the dangerous play, complain about how it should have been a penalty. But if he wants to play like that in the danger zone, take a bit of responsibility for also causing that dangerous situation. But I get it, he's posturing so him & Drysaddle can play 45 minutes a game with 30 minutes of them on the PP. |
