“It’s still very early and there's no reason to panic, but the Islanders are still shaking off some of the rust early in the season”

When you are as old as the NYI it’s more like corrosion than rust. 82 games over a compressed schedule means more breakdowns and running out of gas to come.

Yeah sure and we’ll still smash the hell out of the Flyers along the way.

I would rather have both Isles goalies than Hart at this point. He is just lost at this point.

A little hard to tell, but it looks like Wally may have clipped his skate with his left skate..........but it appears to have been incidental, not intentional.

If you asked me at the beginning of the season if Big Z was the answer? I would have said no. Did I want the Isles to sign him? Yes I did. I thought he would be a better option than Greene.
I also, thought that Big Z and Greene if signed would be temporary placements as I felt neither would be able to play a ton of minutes.
Lou may need to address this sooner rather than later.

Pretty much summed up how I felt about it. Comparing Leddy and what he brought to the line up and Chara is borderline amusing. It’s not that Leddy was some world changer but he pushed the play forward. I think Trotz has to commit to getting Abo in the lineup for a stretch of games and try to get the kid acclimated because at the very least he has a closer skill set to what this team lost when Leddy left. I think Chara may find a role with this team but like I have stated since before we signed him it’ll be limited…

This is the thing Cpt. Aho may be close in what we had in Leddy. No reason not to play Aho tonight. This expansion draft hurt the Isles for sure. I'm not sure they bring back Greene if they did not need him for the draft? I know Bellows may not be the answer but I like the idea of sitting Bailey. Would be a message to the team this is a new year and full schedule and teams will be ready for the Islanders.

I would love to see Bailey sit or Beau for that matter. It’s deserved. With that said it’ll never happen but they’ve been horrible. Worst players on an underperforming team it’s not even a debate. Hopefully they turn it around but I would bet that trotz will break up that line before he starts sitting them which I don’t exactly agree with.

Edit; I’ll also add bellows has been terrible as well. He looks worse then he ever has. Last year to me he looked pretty good and I was kind of shocked even trotz sat him. This time around I would be shocked to see him in the next game. Kid is not making a case for himself to stick.

I would sit Bailey over Beau as Beau does not seem lazy but he does need to find consistency. With Barry's resume he should have no worry if he need to sit a vet. I cannot see Bellows career with the Islanders ending well. He does not seem to be a Barry player at all.

Yeah people hang their hats on the Beau isn’t lazy mantra all the time. The guy is at times(in reality most of the time) completely ineffective. If a player is doing crap it doesn’t matter to me whether a player is skating fast or not

He’ll do nothing for twenty games and be great for ten. That’s Beauvillier. Take him or leave him. I don’t think that’ll change.

Give credit to some guys who look like they don't dread playing the full schedule.
Maybe? Some vets are complacent?
Last year is over.
Still looking forward to a great regular season.
