Well, like I said earlier: Toronto gained NO ground on the Wings! |

Blashill Is still the coach ONLY because Yzerman Is a nice guy, I have no doubts about Stevie Y as the guy to get Detroit back to the top but Blashill has to go!! |

Beyond being nice, there’s not been any reason for expectations to be higher than the results. However, Yzerman has done a lot to improve the situation. I just don’t see a system right now. I see a lot of bad passing and a lot of frustrated players. It feels like this should be addressed |

Would love L2, but at this point I’d take a holographic Paul Newman |

Pius Suter went 2 for 8 on faceoffs tonight. Zero points this year and awful on faceoffs. He's garbage. Tried to warn people.
Send Raymond down before he hits 9 games. Save a few games for later in the year. Give Veleno a look instead. |

I still don't get what Rowney is doing on this team. He brings nothing. Ryan would have been a much better fit for that spot.
Waive Rowney and bring up Veleno and sit Suter until he learns to win a faceoffs because he sure as hell isn't bringing any offense. Sit DeKeyser too...watching him pinch and half ass it back only to stop skating once he hit the blueline and watch Montreal go at the net is embarrassing.
Yzerman needs to tell Blashill that his defensive and breakout system are a joke and he needs to fix that now. This collapsing no pressure defensive system is one of the worst thing i've ever seen in any league let alone the NHL. Their breakouts are pretty much just flipping it to center or shooting the puck off the boards/glass right to the opposing defense.
I just hope they finally get some lottery luck this time and this is the last season of Blashill in Detroit. I also hope this season doesn't destroy the confidence of the young guys and Yzerman continues to clear out the older dead wood still on the roster. |

Where is the “puke” emoji? And when did the Johnstown Chiefs (BEFORE the Hansons) secretly replace the Wings?
Crappy game. Full stop.
Folks on this blog have been saying, since I joined) that Blash needs to go. It’s never been more apparent than tonight. Nothing was good. These kids have talent, but they need structure. There’s none. We have some good you players. But if no one’s nurturing them, their talent’s never realized. This has got to change.

I just replied on your last post
Blash needs to be fired for his decision on Hronek alone! That is absolutely ridiculous to healthy scratch him and leave others in instead- in a game you knew the offense was already taking a hit with Bert out
The pulling the goalie literally had me asking, is he a Habs fan? There is NO good reason to pull a goalie with 7+ minutes left in a 5-1 game early in the season. I expected 2 losses coming into this weekend, but his decisions are beyond ridiculous!
I agree with others, as much as I like Smith, he is a marked/targeted guy by the refs.
Stevie needs to fire Blash, sign Ryan, bring Veleno up and waive the likes of Rowney, send Smith down. And if Suter is invisible tomorrow, he needs to be sat. ** I’m willing to see if he can step it up vs his old team. |

Jeremy Laura: Blashill’s decision making is horrid, Montreal destroy’s Red Wings - Jeremy Laura[/quote
Jeremy your words and thoughts regarding this game and the guy behind the bench are dead on. I couldn’t agree more. If this does not get fixed soon this is on Stevies hands. You/I/We have been talking about these same issues for way too long, but I never thought it could blow up like this just a handful of games into this new season.
There are still some bright spots on this team but most of what we saw unfortunately in the first four were smoke and mirrors.

Lane Lambert is coming over next year to take the reins, and the Wings will draft his nephew with the 2OA pick! - HenryHockey
Whilst I’d agree with a change, I’m frustrated that Gallant was available and he slipped through the cracks. Maybe Lambert’s the answer. But the sad reality is, this change should’ve been made a few years ago. Tonight was embarrassing.
Sitting Hronek is somewhat of a mystery to me. He played every game last year, last 2 if I’m not mistaken. Back-2-backs require adjusting, to be sure. But why not DK, who’s not had a full season in 3 years?!?!?!? Simple bullshirt. Stecher coming in? Yes, please! DK out? Sold, American!! He’s overpaid, underperforming, and on his last leg. Stall’s marginally acceptable. Lindstrom could sit as well, he’s been lost this season. Stecher’s a stud (comparatively speaking…).
7 minutes. Pull Ned with SEVEN minutes to go?!?!? What, pray-tell, is the desired outcome there? Sweet Jupiter. Greiss stunk tonight. But he’s played Roy-esque this year, a rough night’s to be expected. The Habs sunk 5 on him. FIVE! Where’s the dang puke emoji?!?!?!????
Dylan. Reliable. A bull. Never quits. Unappreciated by the coach. Why, you ask? If Blash had an active brain cell, he’d put the fear of Gordy in that team if for nothing else, to play with an 1/8th of the heart Larkin has. Mo was ok. Raymond was overwhelmed. Suter’s a ghost. Stall has puck-COVID; coughs it up the second he touches it. DK has been serviceable at best, several years ago. Erne got paid, then went AWOL (sorry, forgot about the EN goal & assist). I’m a huge fan of Namestnikov, but he needs to break free of his mind and start scoring, stealing pucks, forechecking, kicking asterisk.
Can someone please wake me up? My coma-induced hallucinations seem to have come to life. Where. Is. The. Puke. EMOJI?!?!?!?!???!

Blashill needs to fired. The big move tomorrow will be that Hronek (wings top defence man the last 2 years and a joke to sit) is back in and are totally incompetent coach will sit stecher or Lindstrom instead of the defenceman who should sit Dekeyser or stall . Blashill is too stupid and scared to manage his players properly |

Suter? he is weak on face-offs but carries the puck well and makes plays. Is Joey ready? Who cares, bring up Joey V, throw him in the fire at 2C and put Suter on the wing and send Raymond down for a while and put Fabs or Z with Larks. Oh, yeah, Hronek should be in the line-up as he is the 3rd best D!!(Mo has #2 already) Smith has a role to play, unfortunately his muscle is needed. |

And you think the Wings were bad,
The Penguins were without Letang, Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Bryan Rust and Jeff Carter. That didn’t unnoticed in restless Leafs Nation as their club put up a feeble effort against their depleted opponent. |

How long must we endure this man as coach... he has no vision, no plan and is grossly detrimental to the growth of these players..... you are 100% correct, there is no system to speak of... its a free for all and most of these players make decisions, it would appear, to just get rid of the puck like transition and puck control is frowned upon, or worse they are incapable..... I turned if off at 5 to 1 as I could watch no more.... Sieder may already be the best player on this team, no offense to Larkin or Bertuzzi as they both work hard... Smith is the least of my concerns as he isn't as negative an effect on the team as Suter...guy is ineffective and looks lost out there and his linemates are suffering greatly due to his lack of providing anything... not that Zadina gets a pass, I fear the days of putting pucks in nets may never happen... at least for certain under this outclassed coach who is wasting every players time and dragging this organization along.... I love Stevie Y, he's why I started watching hockey, playing hockey, and I find I agree and trust his decision making... that said, I can't support blatant losing to garner draft position, which I hope is not the case, but why the hell else keep Blashill...we the fans are already fed up and its been 5 games into a season we had hope for some progress.....its a good thing Sieder and Leddy are on D as they seemingly are the only 2 who attempt to make plays and move the puck instead of blindly shoveling it along... I could go on and on.... the opposition carries the puck and maintains possession and plays as a team and the Wings.....well, GET RID OF THIS COACH....so maybe we know if the players are worth keeping or if they are hapless victims of a fools strategy... |

Agreed 100%.... except I don't think the team can wait for a season to dump this concrete shoes in water coach.... |

Well we all had high hopes going into this season, we handled the transformation like true Detroit Red Wing followers and now it’s the Blashill show. Pulling the goalie like he did was something a Midget coach would do to teach his young team a lesson and embarrass. Let’s rip the band-aid off and move TANGUARY up. We can’t keep talking about the Current coach it gets very tiring, this team is not growing under his leadership.
Go Wings, a win is Chicago today would be nice but from Montreal to Chi-Town in less then 24 hours will be challenging. I’m sure Blash has zero game plan for the Hawks. |

I guess I’m an eternal optimist. I still have hopes for this season, albeit not as high as once held.
Like you, I’m confused/frustrated. But I think it important to remember that we never had an illusion of grandeur to start with. We knew this was going to be another Bettman-shafting….ooppss, “Lottery” season. But we wanted to see improvement, whether in systems, consistency, PP/PK, whatever. The problem is, and Jeremy did a good job of pointing this out, there’s only been one game that the Wings seriously won. PP is down the crapper again, zone entries stink, PK is marginally better, passing isn’t crisp….this bothers me because the 1st couple of games, passing was measured, helped gain an advantage, created something, passing now is for crap.
Am hopeful for Chicago, but not holding my breath. We need a change. Tanguay has got to dig deeply into the minds of the specials teams and make meaningful changes. The kids have to step up on the ice. But, most importantly, systems need to be put in place that accentuate the talent on this team. |

Yzerman knew this team wasn’t ready so he kept Blashill as a lame duck coach. My biggest issue is with Tanguay right now. He’s horrible. |

They need to find a way to finish the job, though. I am still on the fence on Tanguay. I think another 10 games will be an adequate trial for him, barring key injuries. And Bert was missing from the PP and PK last night.......yeah.

Suter probably took Kane and DeBrincat out for brunch today. Thanks for padding my stats and helping me get this contract. I suck at faceoffs and am invisible. But I fooled a bunch of Wings fans in the pre-season. Not all. But most. Media too. |
