Doesn't sound like a great environment for a prospect to develop with the Phantoms right now. Hope that changes soon. |

Baffles me how you hire a guy with zero head coaching experience to lead the charge to develop your prospects. That decision makes zero sense then and now. What did or has "lappy" done to warrant getting that job?
Samu needs to go to juniors where he can you hope flourish. AHL is not for him imo.
They have some good quality AHL vets that shouldn't be struggling this bad. |

So you are saying NHL level assistant coaches are not qualified to be head coaches at lower levels?

Tim Kerr is my 2nd most favorite Flyer of all time, just behind Clarke! Thanks for the video Bill!
Regarding the Phantoms, I know they have injuries but they still have some NHL experienced players on their team and some talented younger players. Is there a problem picking up the system Lappy and his coaches are installing here or is there something else going on with this group? |

He's played 4 games, don't you think we should give Samu about 10 games before we can evaluate what is best for him? |

What has he done to warrant getting that role? Are you ok with them hiring him for the phantoms head coach gig?
He was at best an average assistant. He was also not top 2nd in charge assistant. Did he get demoted a couple time? |

No I don't need to give him 10 games. He should not be in the AHL at this time.
I have very little faith in the flyers properly developing him. They will probably zap all the offensive skill right out of him.

Read MBFlyerfan’s question again. How does an NHL assistant coach for multiple season not deserve a chance at an AHL head coaching job? It’s a pretty legitimate question. |

Read my question again. What has he done to warrant getting that job? Him being a low level assistant warrants it? That is your answer?

He was the lead player development coach, seems like a pretty logical progression to me.

Why is Lappy still in this organization? Wow, he blocked a shot with his mouth in a playoff game 100 years ago, so he has a job for life. This is one thing about the Flyers organization that has always annoyed me! You paid the guy when he played now move on before he ruins these young players. The man can't coach!!! |

Being an NHL assistant coach and working with young players like Travis Konency, Ivan Provorov and Carter Hart is the answer. It’s not that hard to process. |

He did such a great job in that dept. Who did he develop? How long did he hold that job for? A year? Also that was in 2012.
So as a flyers fan you are happy with this hire? Do you not think there were better candidates out there? |

This is a different argument entirely. If you wanna argue that he’s here out of misguided loyalty, that’s fine…but arguing that he’s never had any prior coaching experience to be given a look at is dumb. |

That great. Flyers fans never disappoint. So guys who were pretty much NHL ready he gets credit for. Amazing.
He had nothing to do with Hart so stop that nonsense. Glad your happy with Lappy.

We are having two different conversations. You asked how a guy with no head coaching experience gets a head coaching job in a lower level. I answered.
They hired a guy who was already very familiar with the players he would be coaching, and the systems the organization wants them to play.

The PK under his watch was awful. I just don't see why this guy is still with the organization. I mean, I know why(misguided dedication), but move on from the guy already. He has had ZERO success as a coach and it sounds like the Phantoms are an absolute mess under his watch. |

Well what system do they play? You can hire others who will also run the same system as the main club.

Wasn't he demoted as an assistant at some point?
Flyers prospects have taken steps backwards. Even more of a reason to look elsewhere.

Aube-Kubel fined $2,687.50 for incident in Flyers game, have we seen enough of this guy and is it time to sit him once Brown is able to enter the lineup? |

Marchand clips Girouxs leg and knees Provorov in the mid section, any fine or even a penalty? |

If this is true, then I guess its logical to also state that AV can't coach, AV's assistants can't coach, and Fletcher is a horrible GM, since all of these people had a hand in deciding Lappy was their guy to coach the Phantoms. Let's give it 10-15 games before we drive off the cliff. |
