Had a feeling you might come out with a Fluery blog after the roomer that Chicago has had talks with Edmonton. I don’t see it happening though. |

Hextall and Burke are not part of the Sid/Geno/MAF era and don't seem to have any sense of nostalgia. Personally I think MAF could be the perfect mentor for Jarry, but I don't see the Pens giving up any significant pieces to get MAF, but I could see them signing him in the off-season to a cheap one or two year contract to close his career out. |

Hawks haven't won a game and Fleury's poor start is a big part of that. Hawks defense has been brutal, but can't be all to blame for Fleury's abysmal start. I don't think Fleury has much trade value until he rights the ship and Hawks would be wise to wait until his stock is a little higher. |

MAF was outstanding last year for Vegas. While goalies can be a roller-coaster, MAF isn't going go from Vezina winner to scrub over night. CHI is by far the worst team in the league. Like laughably bad. They're worse than Buffalo.
I do also think there's a mental/emotional part of this. MAF is very unhappy about the whole situation and it's showing. |

While I agree that MAF could be a difference maker for, say Edmonton, I don't think as he is currently playing that difference would be that good. I have seen limited 'hawks action this year, but MAF has looked lost. He isn't settled at all. His head just doesn't seem to be on the ice.
That said, get MAF dialed in, and put him on a team that allows him to see the puck and in games played with pace, and yes, you could well be on a deep run.

Goalies benefit greatly from a good team system in front of them. Last year in Vegas he had that. This year?? There is no system. It’s chaos. |

Best playoff performer of the past decade?
REALLY? What decade were you watching?
MAF was epically lousy in 2012, got pulled in 2013 in favor of Tomas Vokoun, and as we all know...
in 2016 and 2017, Matt Murray was the key in Penguins Stanley Cup runs. Yes, Fleury had a huge role in knocking out the Caps in 2017, but Murray won the Ottawa series and was stellar in the Final.
Oh, how did his play in last year's playoffs turn out for Vegas? His mishap in Game 3 vs Montreal turned the series...
I know everyone likes Marc Andre Fleury the person, but why do we need revisionist history when it comes to describing the hockey player? |

With the exception of his last game, MAF has been horrible. Here's some background from NBC Sports Chicago:
Of the 68 goaltenders that have made at least one appearance this season, Marc-Andre Fleury and Kevin Lankinen rank 66th and 67th in goals saved above expected at -6.4 and -6.5, respectively. That's 12.9 goals that should've been stopped that weren't. |

The real question is who wants him. And why?
He shouldda went with his instinct to retire in Vegas, just couldnt walk away from the money. He now has a massive coffee stain on his otherwise spectacular dossiér
His career is over and this season was the last burner being lit for his cremation |

I think he would an awesome fit with the Oilers.
The Bruins could also be very interesting.
They don't need a goalie, but a Third option could be Philly... would be very interesting.
I do also think the Hawks have a much better team then their record shows, they could still turn it around. |

Where to start...
He is not the best playoff performer of the last decade. He was routinely yanked. I mean Matt Murray won 2 Cups with MAF on the bench.
He also isn't that good. The solid Vegas system masked his deficiencies, which are being exposed now.
Finally, Sakic paid a premium for Kuemper. He isn't going to parachute in MAF as a starter. If so, there is no way Kuemper signs as a UFA. So now they lose Kuemper and have MAF as a UFA. Makes zero sense. |

Interesting comments from the Canes social media team the other day was that they had been directed by the front office to create some graphics because there was a big name goalie being acquired, but that never actually materialized.
Strong belief that was Fleury this summer. Guess Chicago wanted him more. |

I wonder with Bowman gone if the Hawks will actually start making smart decisions.

I don't know many goalies would could thrive in Chicago right now, but I honestly believe that MAF is incredibly unhappy about being there that it's bleeding into his play. He almost didn't report there. I don't know where he'll wind up this season, if he gets moved at all, but my bet is he either returns to Vegas or Pens to finish out his career signing a very friendly contract.

The Wild are a great team! Ah,no. They will be in the mix for the playoffs if they stay healthy. The Wild owned VGK last regular season but VGK showed they were better in the playoffs with the biggest factor being the Wild weakness at center. The Wild need a 1C and no goalie will make the difference if they don’t get one.

Good analysis. How about doing the Dubnyk bidding war next?

agreed , he should of retired , sad to see getting hanged out to dry that way, Collinton doesn't give two flying f*** about coaching, aside from Jones that defense is passive and Toews for his sake should stayed on IR. |
