Brooks nails it on the head on all points.

When, on more than a handful of other occasions, the newly toothy Puddy Tats encroached and banged away at the puck in the crease while the goaltender was covering it, the response was limited to Shesterkin’s pleas to the referees to do something.

Not entirely accurate: At one point, Lindgren was cross-checking the Florida player who was already lying on top of Shesterkin, and Lindgren unwisely continued pounding him into Shesterkin. The idea is to "clear the crease" before the contact with your netminder.

The Florida goal resulting from Hornqvist "falling" on Shesterkin (he wasn't pushed by any Ranger) with an extra, added cross-check, should be something the on-ice officials disallow, putting the onus on the offending team to challenge the call. Instead, Gallant has to make the decision (and, under the circumstances, correctly chose to not challenge due to the stupid rule that penalizes the challenging team if the officials get it wrong twice).

Further to your point, the league has the asinine policy that the review should be performed by the same person who just made the questionable call. As if there is no concern that they might not want to admit to their mistake in front of 20,000 people.
There is a team of officials watching every second of every game in Toronto. There is no excuse for not making those impartial officials responsible for the review process.

When league authorities (for all sports) realized they had no choice but to finally consider whether to allow replay reviews of their on-ice/on-field officials, among their main concerns were: cost of technology, length of review, and -- unbelievably -- alienating their officials by taking the "human element" out of the game. Athletes are not expected to do their jobs correctly every time. That's the human element that spectators expect to see in sports, not the refs and umpires missing calls and then covering their arses by getting a second look at it. We know the game is fast and it's difficult to get it right. They shouldn't take it personally that they missed a call, but ignoring the "eye-in'the-sky" capability to correct the mistakes, just because the league doesn't want replay to show-up their officials, is a bizarre concept.

Brooks is full of crap! They didn’t “abandon” ANYONE! Reeves pulled hornquivst away and duclair who started the whole thing was under about four guys.so Larry brooks is saying they should have let him get up beat the poop out of him and taken a penalty to give one of the best power plays in the league another shot! The refs swallowed the whistle during the scrum in the crease and let it go on way to long. Brooks does make some good points once in a while but nobody abandoned shesterkin.

This would be the modern day version of how the fans reacted to the Rocket Richard incident years ago. Of course Drury would like Caufield and the word "no" would be uttered by Montreal a split second after Drury would ask for him.

I don't understand what the agent does to help "seek a trade" The end of the day the two teams have to have interest and agree to the compensation. Just cause an agent says my player wants to go here, who cares lol

St. Louis and Zucc are exceptions rather than the norm. Would I be upset if they acquired Caufield? Hell no. But I am not clamoring for him to come here.


That being said I would take Zucc back in a heart beat if he could fit.

he is 5'7" - he can fit in small spaces

there's a less than 0 chance the Habs would trade him to us for Kravtsov. If they were open to it i'd say pull that trigger as quick as you can and never look back

I would agree but it's a pipe dream scenario.

What I am saying is that if Caufield was the piece none of us would be happy with the +++ going along with Kravtsov.
