Nope I don't think so
I think he has only had 1 maybe 2 practices without the no contact jersey, think they will want him to have a few practices in |

Looks like Jack is most likely back tonight. On the ice for morning skate and partaking in the top unit power play reps |

Ruff just confirmed Hughes is ready to go and is in tonight. Also said it's possible Jack starts the game on the wing tonight |

Nico has been playing well but Zacha is still not going to generate offense himself. Hopefully having Jack on their wing sparks something.
Although we really need Jack back centering Kuok and Sharangovich to get them going. |

I know a way to jumpstart the pp and it involves recchi and an open elevator shaft. |

The Devils are close to signing Hughes to an extension, per Kevin Weekes.
EDIT: LeBrun confirms that the Devils should be announcing it shortly. |

Corey Masisak reporting the extension is 8x8. Absolute steal if thats true, going to age very well. |

Just made official by team outlet.
Love the direction the team is going getting these young guys signed to long deals. The old ways of doing it in which you underpay the young guys and then overpay them when they are older screws your team because you're either going to lose a valuable player or overpay a guy as he ages. |

Yep. With 5 years after this season left on Nicos deal we have 5 seasons of our top 2 C combining for $15.25m. Not bad. |

Our cap situation is really good so fitting Bratt will be easy, just depends on how much we can spend especially since you get the impression that Mercer is going to play himself into one of this big deals too. We're going to be spending a lot of money for players down the middle (which isn't a bad thing necessarily) just means that money to spend on wingers will be at a premium. |

Right now you can’t break up his line, but with Hughes/Nico in the top 2 C spots long term I have a feeling Mercers future with the team might be at RW. |

I actually think the way the league is trending, especially for success in the playoffs, is that you need 3 "big" lines instead of the old model of 2. A lot of the teams that win the cup do so with a good amount of 5v5 production from their 3rd lines just beating the other team's 3rd line.
We're setting up to be one of the most dangerous teams down the middle for production for a long time, just about finding wingers at the right price to play with them. But you can probably rotate through them more effectively with trades/FA signings than you would centers which is considered a premium position. |

His new contract is disgusting. Has done nothing to earn it. |
