However, from what I understand the Flames will not be able to bring any of these players up because they only have just over $600,000.00 in salary cap room and all of these players will make more than that (at least league minimum) if they are in the NHL. After the first game back (Columbus on Saturday), they can then use some kind of emergency clause and bring up some players that will effectively put them over the salary cap limit, but for that first game they will have to play with a reduced roster - there will be lots of ice time to go around for that game. They can also choose to place Ritchie and/or Pitlick on LTIR, and that would open up more cap space to provide more flexibility.

Let's not forget how a lot of Flames fans were acting like total snobs by approving of discrimination against fans who aren't vaccinated, from attending games in person. You guys are a disgrace to your own country for mindlessly surrendering our civil rights and collaborating with trudeau
Now your entire hockey team - which is 'double vaccinated' 'fully vaccinated!' - caught the China virus!! "who would have known??" id**ts - eastcanadAREaholes
Again - you never fail to disappoint in proving what an embarrassment you are to Flames fans. You used a few words in your vitriol that 100% apply to you, and not to the Flames fan base in general. Words like disgrace, snobs, idiots - yep you are talking about yourself - and nobody else. China virus?? Are you kidding me? Wow - just wow!
Ok, now you can proceed to cut me down, call me names, swear at me and just generally make yourself look like a fool. I will not be responding here to any more of your comments, I will not waste any more of my time, so you have free reign to trash the hell out of me without any further response from me. |

And thankfully, since they've been fully vaccinated (which doesn't mean they can't catch it) all players reported to have tested positive are asymptomatic or have mild symptoms. That's what the vaccine is meant to do. I shudder to think of what could've happened had they not taken precautions - I mean, that's why Smallpox and Polio aren't a thing anymore. |

It is crazy times, I would imagine Dube will be playing Centre against the Jackets, do you know anymore about the emergency clause, is there a certain limit you can go over the cap with the emergency clause?

Not sure of the exact details on it. The boys on the Fan 960 were talking about it on my drive home yesterday evening - that's where I got the information. They had good info to provide, but they were also not 100% sure in some areas.

And good luck to them and everyone else who jumped in head first, I'll be ready when something reputable becomes available. Not a good situation when people place popularity points above civil rights & liberties. Monny going down to covid kind of hits harder.. - eastcanadAREaholes
Why do you keep bringing up civil rights and liberties? You give up pretty much all civil rights and liberties when you decide to live in society. You don't get to put yourself first. You're entitled to civil rights and liberties when they don't impact other people. You still have access to everything you need even though you're a selfish wiener.
Try going to the grocery store naked and yell out racial epithets to everyone you pass. Do you expect civil rights and liberties to save you there? It's the same thing as the vaccine. Follow the rules laid out to live with other people or build yourself a bunker somewhere. |

Bad situation, but a good thing to come out of it is that we get to take a look at the kids.
Might just steal a game or two. |

Less than 350 deaths in all of Canada under 40yr olds in 2 years. They would be perfectly fine without vaxx. No need to shudder. Maybe turning off the TV will help your hypochondriac syndrome.

Please tell me you don’t still believe the vaccine is doing anything other than making rich people more rich ? Smallpox was eradicated with the use of antibiotics please look this up before bashing me fauci himself wrote a paper on this !!! Covid virus has been around since the 1950 and is why they cannot vaccinate against common cold cause it keeps mutating that’s why we catch cold every year !!!!! You really think all the new mutations have the exact side effect as taking the vaccine to be a coincidence?? Wake up !!! A vaccine effectiveness does not require me to take to keep you safe !!!!!!! |

Thanks Trevor
Depending on how many players we can bring up, I’d say Pelletier, Gawdin, Mackay,, Valimaki ,Philips in that order.
Do we know who the staff member is?

Since the jar is already opened, feel free to discuss. One ban has been given out already for personal attacks, so keep civility in mind.
Most people are sick of debating this topic. Especially with those plugging their ears and shouting over conventional scientific data. The regulars said their piece in the thread linked below. Read it if you want.

Do me a solid and actually google what you’re all saying. Claims like “small pox was eradicated by antibiotics“ is so easily disproven that it’s barely even worth addressing. |

This isn't about the Flames per se, but it is about hockey. I hope that's ok.
".... 11 NHL teams have been affected by game postponements so far. The NHL has recommended but not mandated booster shots for its players and team personnel...."
- Tampa Bay Times
https://www.tampabay.com/...urther-nhl-postponements/
and
"...The International Olympic Committee has said an athlete who tests positive for COVID-19 in China will need to produce two negative results 24 hours apart. If they’re unable to do so, the quarantine period could last from three to five weeks...." (elsewhere quarantine period was said to be 4 - 6 weeks.)
- Tampa Bay Times
https://www.tampabay.com/...articipation-in-olympics/
Would players really want to go that badly that they'd risk being in quarantine in China for maybe a month or more?
And with so many games now being postponed how can they be made up except by possibly rescheduling at least the most important ones during the Olympic break?
Things were looking pretty promising as long Ottawa and Islanders were the only teams suffering badly - but now...I wouldn't bet a nickle on them going to China.
And if it turns out that this latest development is due to the Omicron variant and it's as contagious as the Brits are saying, then we should probably be thankful for whatever hockey we're able to watch over the holidays - no matter which teams are playing.
And people can scream as loud as they want but if the border gets shut again could the NHL finesse a Canadian division to stumble through a so-called "season"? - or could the Canadian teams play out of US cities instead? Lots of questions to be considered at the league offices, I imagine.
PS. I don't mean to poop on the parade but it's pretty hard to ignore how things have changed in a very short time - the proverbial elephant in the room.
(And thankfully, it's finally our turn tomorrow. Thank you Duran, Trevor and others for your kind thoughts.) |
