Not even halfway through the season and there has already been a 10 game losing streak, and a current 7 game losing streak.
This franchise is a dumpster fire. Absolute farce.
All the future is bright talk has turned out to be horsepoop. The incompetence from top to bottom is evident. The current ownership is clueless, the GM is a buffoon who should have never been hired. You have Clarke publicly ripping Hextall, the dysfunction is laughable. The saddest part of it is there is no end in sight. |

And they're probably going to let Fletcher double down this summer.
Any chance a second 10 game losing streak gets the GM fired?

Not sure what you expected. The reality of it is with Ellis hurt this team is no different than last season. We lost Niskanen and that created a hole. Ellis was brought in to fill that hole but hasnt really played. Injuries all around have not helped.
The team struggles to transition from D to offense and the offence struggles to win board battles. There were moments in this game where you saw them winning battles but they dont do it consistently. The offence seems to pretty much consist around passing it around until someone flubs it and tuns it over. I would like to see some creativity from some players. Guys are standing still and it makes it easy to defend. You have to make space by causing the other team to lose their coverage.
This was a winnable game but at this point in the season the loss is better for the team. |

Are you saying because Ellis is hurt, we should expect dysfunction throughout the entire organation from top to bottom? |

Just wondering if there was a guarantee to not be a healthy scratch as a condition to Yandle signing here. |

to take a stab and answer joes question from last blog on how long hextalls plan wouldve taken. I would guess, he wasnt even half way done the draft and develop strategy, and had 8 first round picks. So guess he'd need another 10 1st round picks to get where we would be a contender. Its a slow process to draft and develop if you want to stay competitve and not go all in on the rebuild. The JVR and Jakes signings really set things back, being good enough to be a bubble team, but not good enough for really good picks. It was an awful strategy. Either rebuild or dont. Cant do the in between thing |

Every team has injuries, every team has to deal with Covid. No different for anyone. I expect not to be a league laughing stock. I guess that is too much to ask for.

Is anyone else tired of the Ellis excuse? Yes a key high quality player missing hurts a team, but good teams overcome. Kids in the pipeline step up, other players step up, coaching staff steps up, management steps up. We are talking Nisky (last year) and Ellis now, not Orr, Coffey or Lidstrom. Perhaps from top to bottom everything has been overhyped and overvalued. When healthy did Coots step up? TK? Hayes? Provy? JVR? This list go on and on. A few bright spots like York but overall not much to be excited about. Wish I had answers. Hopefully guys like G & Risto can bring a king’s ransome at the deadline and some form of reset can begin. |

Agreed! Yet we don’t seem too far away from Arizona level at the moment. Sinking to the level of monumental organizational dysfunction and fan apathy. |

The sentiment of many fans who have not gone totally numb. It’s hard to continue investing money and time and emotion in a team that does not seem to be able to get out of its own way and at least offer entertainment to its rabid fan base. What a wonderful thing (the rabid fan base) for a professional sports team to have and what a horrible thing to squander. |

You trade for an injury prone player who is north of 30 and low and behold he's injured. He was injured in pre-season and has never recovered from it. Anyone who expects Ellis to be healthier as he ages is whistling through the graveyard. It's another sunk cost. One after another.
Konecny has a 20 game drought without scoring. That is absurd.

What Kids? Sanheim is the only regular "kid". York wasnt brought up until things got real bad. Flyers lost their #2 D. Ellis was brought in to fill the hole but we still have that hole because he has been hurt all season. Braun has been playing as the #2 guy. Injuries happen but this season has been more severe especially since we lack depth.
This team is not a contender by any means with Ellis but we'd still be a bubble team rather than a bottom feeder. This team needs to take advantage of the TDL. Anuthing less than a 1st for Giroux and Ristolainen is a loss. Braun should get us a decent pick and JVR could possibly be moved with Cap retained

I don’t think the over all idea was horrible. I do think Hextall could have done a better job of adding or molding the current roster he had. Others have said he was starting with nothing thanks to Holmgren, but considering he had a nucleus G, Vorecek, Simmonds, Schenn, Ghost to start with I find that argument ignorant to the facts. Sure he had some salary cap issues and for the most part did a good job of managing that.
In the cap world, your 1rst picks or a few lower ones need to produce at the NHL level before they become a drag on the salary cap. Had guys like Patrick, Rubstov, O’brien, Sanheim hit then this team would be in a better position. Where Clarke was correct is the reinforcements that were drafted to replace that core have not developed to keep this team competitive. Hextall’s plan was never going to work if they didn’t draft and develop the “right” guys. |

I never thought I’d see the day when the Flyers were a bottom feeder. Today the are closer to that then being a bubble team. |
