Good read Jan, as usual! I don’t mind the trade for Chychrun, young and with huge upside. Only a year older than Miller, packaged with Kravtsov, I would have loved to see play with Panarin, are two real nice pieces. What about a Chytil, Zac Jones to Seatle’s Carson Soucy. Also, not sure if anyone asked this one but is Evander Kane a no go for the remainder of the season? Up top with Kreider & Zib. Then you move Kaako back to Strome Panarin. Morgan Barron centers Lafreniere and Gautheir and Goodrow goes back to Reaves Rooney. D would look like Fox Lindgren, Trouba, Chychrun, Fox Lindgren, Schneider, Soucy. Not terrible! |

Look up Ryan Reaves and Evander Kane. This should answer all your questions.
As far as Soucy goes, I was hoping they would try to strike a trade for him in the off-season before the expansion draft. However, if they do end u grabbing Chychrun, they will likely need to subtract rather than add. Meaning they need to dump Nemeth's contract in a subsequent trade and roll with Zac Jones on the left of Schneider.
If they do go through with this I wonder how that affects their plans to resign Strome or trade for Miller. |

With Nils back in the AHL, Miller has gotten more PP time, and with Trouba playing the way he is its not surprising.
Trouba really is earning every penny of that 8mil contract right now. |

I get it between Reaves & Kane. Didn’t know they had that much dislike for one another, all the back to Juniors! Thx.

My thought process here is if they pull the trigger on Chychrun, then the organization is of the belief that Strome has priced himself out of the Rangers budget and will go get his pay day. Which, I dont blame him one bit, go get that money. Therefore, I fully expect them to go after Miller soon after the Chychrun trade. |

I’m eating crow on Trouba and don’t mind it one bit. I didn’t want him here from the start and was hard on him from the start. I know why the rangers wanted him because they didn’t have anyone like him in the system but thought he wasn’t the guy. He’s been nothing steady for the last year and a half. |

Between kravtsov entering lias andersson territory, Miller’s sophomore slump and a likely late 1st round pick I don’t think that’s close to what gets it done or at least it shouldn’t. In his short tenure as coyotes GM Armstrong has so far proved smart but moving a player like chycrun is what not only puts a stamp on the organization but also will show every other team how he values his top players going forward.
I don’t have a bias towards either team and I know he was off the table for eichel but if I’m the coyotes I’m asking for lafreniere, and if the rangers don’t have to add more I think they should do that.
Before anyone bites my head off hear me out, 1st overall or not if you develop a guy to be a 3rd liner that’s what he’s going to be when he reaches his prime. Not saying he will be the next yakupov but if the rangers don’t start getting more out of him his value is only going to drop and you will be kicking yourselves when a guy who was once worth a 1st pair D is now worth a #4 down the road. Even if lafreniere turns it around he’s likely not going to have a mackinnon type break out and top out at a 60-75 point power winger which may be what chycrun is worth right now anyway. Then when you consider the contract chycrun is on and that the rangers are in win now mode I think that’s would be about as fair as it gets for both sides
Also if the rumoured ask from the panthers is lundell and knight I don’t think you guys are getting a discount |

Im more worried, and kind of not, about Kakko cause hes getting the top line minutes and still not hitting his stride.
Im certainly not giving up LAF for Chychrun. To me a trade for Chychrun is hardly a priority. They need to solidify their top 6, bolster their 3rd line and get a better 3rd pairing LD.
Going off what the Rangers did with their lineup change, Im curious if they keep going with the Panarin, Zib, Kreider line. Then they can boost LAF's minutes and play him with Strome and Kakko. |

This is what I’m hoping for. I think playing with the big boys is intimidating for Kakko and Laf in the sense that they think they need to get them the puck, even when in prime scoring positions themselves.
That second line gives each a chance to be the guy, and feel Strome has a perfect temperament to lead and encourage them.
Now the 3rd line can become a high pressure, grind, and dirty goal line with Goodrow and maybe Barron leading the way.
Makes sense to roll with this leading up until the deadline to see what they really have. |

I would be more inclined to move Kakko over Laf, if it comes to that. Laf game is far more suited to the NHL game, then that of Kakko.
I think at the end of the day, Drury will make the deal that makes the most sense. If that happens to be Chychrun so be it. Players of that ilk don’t become available often, if he has a package the Coyotes like, he should do it. Nothing like dealing from a position of strength. |

I do agree that it’s not a priority (I do find it humorous that drury trades buchnevich and that 6 months later is left trying to find a top six winger). But with the rangers core not getting any younger and the contract chycrun’s on, it’s not like you come across a player like that everyday.
The reason I suggested lafreniere instead of kakko is essentially for the reason you listed in the sense that at this point I think the rangers would need to add to kakko and with no guarantee that lafreniere will do any better than him it came down to move 1 asset instead of 2.
Personally I think the rangers need to start acting aggressive like Vegas. They’ve traded so many futures for the team they have now and the only one that looks to even slightly backfire is Suzuki. So while chycrun is not a priority that doesn’t mean they still can’t go after guys like Miller, hertl, toffoli etc.

In a hypothecial situation. If they do decide to move Kakko, lets say in the trade with VAN, I want Podkolzin coming back in the trade. |

No thanks to Chychrun. The cost would be astronomical and not sure he’s what we need. He’s a -31 in 29 GP. I like the idea of a guy like Soucy instead. |

Panarin has 196 points in 148 games as a Ranger
so a good chance to get 200 points in his first 150 Ranger games
even Messier didn't do that
