So with all of the available players, someone is going to trade a 1st round pick for a struggling Zacha. A guy who has never really excelled and is clearly struggling. Then you have to qualify him at what $2.5M just to keep him. Sounds like you might get a late 2nd for that. Maybe a 3rd and B prospect. But if a well placed source thinks NJ can get a 1st then I'm sure it's been discussed.

Devils player development model - select Zacha 6th overall. Toil with him for 6+ years and then flip him for possibly a 2nd rounder. Best way to rebuild a franchise
