So what you're saying is Team Canada selected other players over Giroux...because he wasn't a self-promoter? Like he didn't whine and dine Team Canada management to select him? I had no idea that self-promotion was even a factor.

Also pretty sure not a single person that matters has changed their evaluation of any player based on a meaningless game of shinny yesterday.

I scored 7 goals in a road hockey game with my son and his friends yesterday.

If only I was a self-promoter.

my evaluation of Tom Wilson changed after that game. before the game, I thought he was a walking pile of flotsam. now, I think he's a talented young gent who means well....but, I don't matter, so this means nothing.....

Lol @ All Star game hype. Worse yet Phillycentric ASG hype. Are they gonna double down on the Risto disaster?

I'd actually love to hear when Giroux was wrongly overlooked by Team Canada?

2010 Olympics - he was in his 2nd full season and had just put up 27 points in 42 games. Obviously not even considered. They won gold without him.

2014 Olympics - Canada had Crosby, Tavares, Bergeron, Toews, Getzlaf down the middle. All in their prime. Giroux was not better offensively than Crosby and Tavares and not better in shutdown roles like Bergeron, Toews, Getzlaf. Babcock also preferred actual wingers rather than converted centremen. So guys like Perry, Benn, Nash made the list. They won gold again.

2016 World Cup - he must have been self-promoting because Giroux made the team. Still behind Crosby, Tavares, Bergeron, etc...so Giroux only played 1 game. They won gold without him.

Good player. But nobody once ever said I can't believe Giroux isn't on this team...

I'm still waiting to hear what the actual problem is in Philly...

Not the coach...been through A LOT of those. Same exact problems.

GM? Been through a couple of those...same exact problems.

Hell maybe it's the owner....nope multiple owners with the SAME exact problems.

Must be the players then...woah woah every player has changed (well except for 1) AND SAME exact problems.

It's been pretty well established that the Flyers have pretty much had the same problems year after year for over a decade now. Other than getting rid of EVERYTHING at once and starting over from scratch everything else has been done to death.

Is Claude the problem? Not sure and probably not, but he is simply the one and only piece still with the team since the current crop of issues have been plaguing the team. Maybe its the Pronger curse....

Maybe the main issue is lack of skill on the team? More than likely those players will get shipped out and succeed on other teams. Is Giroux good...yup, but they need great or elite that forces others to play above their expectations.

I can accept a crappy team that just doesn't have enough firepower to win those close games, but I will never accept one that loses on effort on a nightly basis, or in the Flyers situation period by period basis. I constantly hear how the Flyers hate to lose, but for once I would love to see those words backed up with action.

EK is excited that his poster boy from the Flyers finally did something noteworthy
The only thing noteworthy is that it was an All Star game that really did nothing to excite anyone HO HUM

The people that run that city are corrupt and everyone knows it Why should the Flyers organization be any different They booed Santa Claus
Coming from Western Pa we have no respect for anyone who represents Philly
In fact we despise them

Brilliant analysis on what ills the flyers franchise here. I feel far more educated after reading your post. Please give us more. I will be anxiously waiting on your next contribution.
