He needs to sit games more for the stick to the face than the punch.

Minimum 5 games. I’d like to see 15 but I doubt that happens.

Agreed. I thought 2-3 for the punch, given his history. But, the high stick/spear should get him up to about 7, IMO.

I see a 7 game suspension simply because of reputation. But IMO, its not enough. Marchand will never learn. He deserves more but probably wont get it. First a punch to an unsuspecting goalie then a high stick. 2 infractions wont a sever notice by NHLPS. And I agree, the Pens reaction during it all was beyond pathetic. Crosby just stood there. Hailed as one of the greatest leaders, should be ashamed of himself. I was actually embarrassed by his lack of leadership.

1. "Marchand is the devil!!!" "I'm so triggered by his disgusting actions"

2. "If Hextall or Smith were there, they would chop his head off"

Looks like you just don't like Marchand.

I'm sure if you heard the goalie's mean words he'd trigger you too. Lol

I'd boot Marchand for a game or two for the stick...a punch in the head is usually deserved.

At least he didn’t lick him. Dude needs to be suspended at least 10 games because of his history. Sucker punch and then the stick, not to mention the complete ignorant and unsportsmanlike conduct when Jarry was attempting to give a fan a game puck earlier and he batted it down.

As for the gutless penguins. The incident with the puck should’ve resulted in the team going after Marchand. But, the punch and stick… pathetic response. You cannot let that go ever.

Over the entirety of his career, he’s been suspended seven times and missed 22 games while also being fined on five occasions, missing out on $971,397.61

Suspended SEVEN times and fined 5 other times, and we should start at 10 games???

this is why the NHL is a joke. If this was a lesser talented player he would be looking at 20-30 games by now (see Patrick Kaleta his 3rd suspension was 10 games) why should the players talent level have anything to do with the length of suspensions ( I know the answer but it's not right)

Not less than 5 games. Also, it should be stressed that any additional infractions of this nature in the next calendar year will mean a 20 game suspension. Say it up front.

For this, I'd like to see 20 games minimum. Even if Jarry was running his mouth, didn't look like he did anything physical to provoke this. Given the obvious one-sidedness to this, I'd say call it intent to injure. Given Marchand's history, give him 20 games. Maybe, just maybe, that would be enough of a hit to the pocket that he would change his ways. Doubtful, but it's a strong message to do so.

How many times can a player be suspended before being banned from the league? Seriously, 2 suspensions in 3 months, 8 total should have some consequence beyond missing a few games.

Maybe suspend him for the duration of the playoffs? That might teach the douchebag a lesson because just giving him 5 games off in November or February will not stop the douchebaggery from Marchand.

For at least some context we had a player suspended for 3 games for an intereference penalty. A first-time offender who gave a guy a shove in the shoulder while he did not have the puck.

I predict he will get 3-5 games. He deserves far more but we know that is not how the NHL works. He is a POS and a repeat offender, but he is also a star player. Jarry was not injured and the Dept. of Player Safety will use that as an excuse for leniency...

Replace Marchand's victim from Jarry to Dumoulin and it is maybe a 1 to 3 game suspension. This kind of stuff happens all the time after the whistle and the refs break it up and send the teams back to their benches. The fact that it was a goalie as a target and repeat offender Marchand is what has everyone outraged.

Jarry has a facemask. If Marchand jabbed Dumoulin in the face with his stick it'd have been much, much worse.

I'm not crying about Marchand, but being a repeat offender of stuff like that is a perfectly reasonable thing for people to be upset over.

IMO if you wanna send the proper message you suspend him for the remainder of the regular season and allow him to return for the playoffs. I understand most will think this is excessive, but that’s what has to eventually happen if you ever want to change the way these type of players(dirty and dangerous) act.

Marchand is talented but poop like this is why he is a POS. He is reckless and completely selfish. Any suspension also hurts the Bruins so if I were a teammate I would be pissed. Grow up already.

I am not really intending to defend Marchand. It is more of a statement to the inconsistency of refereeing. Some players and positions are more important to protect than others.

I would like to see the little POS Marchand get at least 7 to 10 games.

I would love an example of the last time a player punched a goalie straight in his head after the the whistle was blown. Then after the ref saved him from the other team, skates by the goalie, with the ref still protecting him, and hits the goalie in the mask with his stick.

Seeing that it happens all the time, it should be easy to find an example.
