Caps are who they are, a middling playoff team and neither Fleury or Varlamov or any vet goalie will change their course that much. No way they get past Rangers, Panthers, Canes, Lightning etc...Bmac and the scouts failed here relying on young goaltending, and average at that. The D has no stoudt, tough guys which is an issue for the playoffs in my opinion. I wouldn't mind if they just lay low this year and make the right changes at the draft and offseason. Caps would be wise to not focus on Ovi and his goal record (which I don't really care about). I hope they just make some needed changes to improve the team so that it has a better chance when they get to the playoffs.

I guess Ovi isn't into politics now that Putin is invading other countries, but what about the past 10 years he spent stroking him🤷?

Yes .hockey is all that matters..not that WWIII might be coming. Glad you have your priorities straight. Ovi basically sucked Putin's diiiiick for years...now he says he isnt political!? How convenient....I guess star athletes don't have to be accountable. Then again, who is held accountable anymore?

Sorry for ranting but...watching how Ukraine is falling puts things in perspective.

Its pretty simple why Russia is taking back Ukraine. Full Control of energy supply to Europe which can be used as leverage (on top of the already one-sided energy deal), Prevents Ukraine from joining NATO & don't forget Ukraine's abundance of Uranium. The US-Europe has been provoking this for years.

Like I said, who cares what Ovie thinks? This is a hockey blog, Ovie plays hockey. Do you care what Lebron James has to say about particular issues? Lots of factors went into bringing the Ukraine situation to the world...Ovie had very little to do with any of them. Accountable? What would you have done to Ovie for liking or admiring the leader of his country? We going to have loyalty tests to play in the NHL? What does Panarin think? Orlov? Shesterkin? Kuzy? How far does this go?

I love how he is calling for "peace" and claiming that he's just an athlete.

(frank) off. He has Putin in his (frank)ing Twitter profile pic and he's claiming he's not a political person.

Calling for "peace" can be interpreted as a tacit endorsement of Russia crushing Ukraine under its boot as quickly as possible.

Lebron is a hypocritical a hole and Ovie only Russian NHL player who has been vocal supporter of Putin. Panarin simply supported Russian people and called out Putin for what he is ...a murdering dictator. Say what ya will about Trump, but if was still in office, this wouldn't be happening
Ukraine being invaded because Putin want old USSR back together and weak ass Biden and oil hungry Europe aren't gonna do poop

Well, rrentz, it seems we agree about most things. Ovie may be the only vocal supporter of Putin because perhaps he is the only one that was asked about him. I am not aware if Kuzy, Orlov or any other Russian player was asked about his opinions of Putin. Maybe Ovie was because of his celebrity. Whatever the case may be, all the Russian players are being put in a tight spot by this situation. It would not surprise me at all that if this war in Ukraine drags on and things get worse that many Russians players will head back to Mother Russia.
