Yep, but they must be clearing cap space for a bigger move. |

I better be good. This was a terrible trade a 4th is absolutely nothing. Cond. Picks always confuse me. Does the lower of the 2 4th rounders mean better pick for the cats or the worse? |

He scores two goals for them and then they dump him. Giroux showed me nothing. |

Agreed. I found giroux to be most invisible in the last game against the cats |

A fourth for Frankie, would almost rather keep him as a “self rental”, but I imagine this must mean Zito is clearing cap for another deal. Hopefully on defense, imo.
Heard the kraks are scratching Giordano, he’s gonna be moved. |

Friedman reporting Chariot to the Cats
No official word yet or what’s headed to MTL |
|
|
|
Per the Canadiens Twitter:
“The Canadiens have traded defenseman Ben Chiarot to the Florida Panthers in exchange for Tyler Smilanic, a 1st-round pick in 2023, and a 4th-round pick in 2022.” |

Nice thing to note is that MTL will retain 50% of Chiarot’s salary |

Again? Which other Zito deal was terrible?
Idk, haven’t seen him play much to have a strong opinion about him. Habs retaining 50% certainly upped the return. A first that’s almost more like a second and a fourth plus a decent prospect who is a few years away. Zito hasn’t missed yet, and he sounds like the type of Dman that FL needs. We’ll see |

Chiarot is a stud. Very steady, strong, takes good decisions. Not the prime attack defenseman at all, but really can eat big minutes (he's been a top pair D for a while in Mtl). You'll like him ! A leadership type of guy also.
I really think it's a fair trade, even if I really don't know the prospect included.
Maybe a bit overpayed for a rental, but considering the 50% retained and that the 1st maybe quite far in the draft, it seems not that bad for Florida, IMO. |

I hope you are right. personally i dont consider 18 points, a -18 rating, and 42 PIM a stud. Were in deep now. and cant afford him next year so i dont think he was worth the 1st++ |

I get a little confused when people’s first rating of a “defensive” stay home type of defenseman is their point total.... if he plays solid defense and helps keep pucks out of FL net, I don’t really care if all the points he gets are secondary assists.
I imagine -18 is pretty easy to get to on the current Habs team, especially when he is playing against the other teams’ top lines. |

Chariot sucks, should have used that 1st+ for Giroux. |

-18 on a garbage team while playing most of the minutes is actually pretty good. All I know is good luck to any team facing Florida if Chiarot is playoff beast mode like last year, an absolute nightmare for opponents in his end.

Well to be fair its not like i was highlighting his points. I was merely reading across his stat line. Just trying to figure out what exactly made him a stud... |

Sorry, bro, that wasn’t directed at you personally. I see people judging Dmen solely on point totals all over the internet |
