Carol Schram: Canucks' playoff hopes take a hit in loss to Detroit, deadline draws nearer The Vancouver Canucks saw their playoff prospects dim considerably following a 1-0 loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday. Meanwhile, the trade market around the NHL is heating up, with contenders paying big prices for their top targets.

Thanks Carol

Allvin and the chipmunks have not done a lot , correction, anything yet so I think the fans should wait until a first move is made before the excitement pours in.

I see a lot of ridiculous proposals on other sites that have a zero chance of happening.

Disappointing loss last night .

Which way would you like the team to go? Sell, buy or stand pat.

The Canucks tend to make most back-up goaltenders look like Vezina candidates.

Well, no buying. That's for sure!

If they can sell for the kinds of hauls we've been seeing, I hope they'd listen at least, to see if a deal is there.

The Hagel deal does make me wonder what kind of return Tyler Motte could bring. I love Motte, and that line. But I think his spot is one where they really need to go younger and cheaper rather than signing him to a bigger extension.

I think Garland's moveable, for the right return. I wonder there's a decent return possibly available for Myers. I think those are their best potential options to shed salary. Boeser would be a sell-low in his current situation, so I think he stays.

The players attracting the big returns are either inexpensive or on expiring contracts. Motte's both, so he's probably the best trade chip they have.

I think Nashville would be a good trading partner.

Crazy prices being paid right now. Hopefully all these teams buying early are jacking up the prices for other teams so they don't feel left behind. Sell sell sell!

Tomasino, L'Heureux, Matier, Prokop, Svechkov and of course Jeannot or picks.
Obviously they won't give up all those guys for Garland, but a couple would be nice.

Hagel is very good middle six forward who is making 1.5M for two more seasons. As Nucker and I were talking about Nic Paul in the last blog wanting 3M for a bottom 6.

I don't want the Canucks to give Motte 2.5M or more.

Just listening to 32 thoughts now, something interesting. Jordan Binnington apparently available. Binner to Edmonton, Koskinen to Van, Halak to St.L

Throw some picks and prospects around.

Gets Canucks out of bonus money next year and Koskinen is a UFA but gives them a more reliable backup down the stretch. St.L gets Cap space this year to go for a bigger ticket add, Edmonton gets a fired up goalie.

Looks like an AHL contract, so they’d have to sign him first.
