Maybe it’s time to either make carter 3RW or 4C?
- 10inchTerror

I am curious to see another few games of the Erod-Blueger-Kapenan line, I thought they looked really good against the Aves. Problem is they just overpaid Carter for 2 years, and they're going to drop him to the 4th line? And do what, put Heinen back to the 2nd? While I think Heinen-Malkin-Rakell probably plays better, Heinen really seems to be in the doghouse.

I would like to see (if we are going to shuffle and throw poop at the wall):
Jake-Sid-Erod
Rakell-Malkin-Rust
Zohorna-Blueger-Kapenan
Heinen-Carter-Boyle

Zohan on the 3rd line....that's a no for me...and Carter/Boyle, two slow asses, with a softy flanking them? not so sure I'm feeling that one either

Heinen, Kapanen and Angello are all sick with non-covid illnesses. I wonder if they caught whatever Geno had. They're not guaranteed for tomorrow.

Zohan:
56.93 CF%
13 GF, 1 GA (92.86 GF%)
57.18 xGF%
59.18 HDCF%

Carter:
47.02 CF%
32 GF, 39 GA (45.07 GF%)
45.91 xGF%
47.62 HDCF%

And Sully plays his 4th line like 6-9 minutes a night at 5v5, limits the old mans ice time and gives Boyle/Carter some speed to get them out of the zone after they've inevitably been buried in there because Carter sucks.

EDIT: Also, it ain't forever. That's if we are trying to figure out new combos for our stale lines. Doesn't have to stick, but could work.

Playing 6-9 minutes might be the number that carter can handle competently.

I think they all have Covid. Has there been a single player diagnosed with Covid since they changed the rules on it? hahah I don't think there has been. Knowing the high numbers in North America and how f'n crazy contagious it is I think its impossible that zero players have caught since the rule change.

Will we see DOC now I wonder?

I know Zohans underlying's are good (I posted a Pensburgh article all about him here last week) with under or around 10 mins a night....but he's vanilla as fvck and doesn't grab his nutsack and battle like most of the rest of the team. I dont think he's a good idea for more ice time and harder matchups. Having said all of that, he probably will be in top 9 now though with the sicknesses and injuries.

Actually, COVID-19 is very low at a 2.5% avg positive test rate and for professional athlete's im sure its even lower...i dont think they have covid.

That's a pretty broad thing you said there. Where do you get this info? How often are the players in NHL being tested now? Whole teams in the same day?

Its running ramped where I am and in a lot of other Canadian cities. Thing is not near as many people getting tested in general now, even with symptoms, or if they are testing are using home rapid tests that dont get recorded in statistics.

Pens travel a lot more places than the Burgh.

None of this is to say I think they should be testing more or any of that crap, I dont care. My point is I dont think I've heard of a single covid case in NHL since the rule change a few months ago and I think that's mathematically impossible. Right before the rule change teams were having upwards of 10 players not able to play because they had it haha...then after rule change nothing notta....but I could be wrong perhaps players have been out due to covid and I missed it.

Hopefully Boyle retires this year. Although I’m pleasantly surprised by how well he has played, this team needs youth. Pitt is already stuck with carter for two more years so I think a Boyle/carter 4th line might be too much age going forward. 82 games is a long season. Need fresh legs.

Not that we have much quality youth, but idk nylander maybe. Cycle them in and out just for a spark.

(frank) covid. Let’s just forget about it and go back to having colds and flus.

I agree...for now, anyway. I caught it early March, as you already know, but I also know well over hundred people who have gotten around then, or currently have it now, either through work, hockey or family and friends. A common theme amongst most of us, even those that barely had any other symptoms, or absolutely no other symptoms, was tiredness and some degree of fatigue. For me personally, when I first started trying to run again and play hockey again, after 2 weeks of no cardio exercise, it was a very humbling experience. Got it all back now though. Cardio for days.

You guys are tough on Carter... He was great early in the year and seems to have hit a wall the last few months. I am not at all worried about him or his contract, I agree with limiting his ice time over the last couple weeks of the year so he is fresher for the playoffs.

I'm confident that he will show up in the big moments in the playoffs.

It doesn’t seem like he’s done much in WBS. Don’t know why he’s the guy getting the call.

In re to Vic: Wilkes has been a mess for most of the year. Hallander isn't producing at a great rate, but he has skill and plays a pretty solid game. I'd like to see what he's got in a real game.

Possibly. Rust put up some pretty pedestrian numbers in the A so it’s conceivable but Rusty is a pretty big exception to the rule that if you don’t produce in the AHL you won’t produce in the NHL

I think they're trying to keep guys like DOC and Nylander down there because they'd rather them be playing games. Hallander is being called up, but it's not guaranteed he'll play. That might be a stretch, so maybe I'm just trying to rationalize it.

On a side note, it seems like Poulin is starting to find his groove. His production while still not great as a whole has ramped a lot as of late. Poulin now has 11 Goals, 16 Assists for 27 Points in his last 37 games.

They switched him from wing to center right? Guess he’s a center.
