Theo Fox: Clutch Control
Thoughts on how regaining clutch play is critical for the Blackhawks even during the early phase of the rebuild.
Plus, a summary of the Hawks vs Flyers game that kicked off the final week with a victory. |

Pat Foley's call on that Toews' breakaway was infinitely better.
"Toews has a breakaway. Toews can win it for the Hawks. (Pause) HAWKS WIN !!!"
I can't believe it's been eight years. |

Just eight years?!? It's been like 30 years that we've suffered through since the Hawks won the Cup! We deserved another one. Stat! |

It really was (is) a shame that fans are deprived of hearing their home town call after the opening round. Yeah we got the Wideman radio calls, but just not the same. The fact that Foley never got to broadcast a Stanley Cup clinching game/goal/save is a real bummer IMO. |

At least we won't have to worry about Gusto's no look passes when he's down low that turn into 2 on 1s the other way next year, that's a start
My apologies i meant to use the word activated |

Big difference in the winning teams and this group is patience, they don't have any, i don't know what Seth Jones was doing on the PP when he was down low and passed that weak pass across Broadway which led to another 2 on 1, with a 3 to 1 lead in the 3rd. Honestly Theo they are kind of dumb in this respect as a team. |

Everyone is just looking for points. High risk be damned. There is very little to be concluded from these last 8-10 games, outside of maybe the rookie D-men showing then know how to defend individually. |

This is where a new coach and staff become critical in the rebuild. Both at the NHL level and at the AHL level, so they can be taught and preached to play the right way from the time you are drafted and developing in Rockford to the time you are up at the NHL level. Executing fundamentals when you are at both levels. Otherwise, it won't matter who you draft if they can't develop them ..... it won't matter who is in goal .... if you can't support in front of the goalie. If the Hawks want to be hard to play against, just be hard to score against |

Everyone and their siblings say that the Hawks have next to zero talent in the system. Yet, the Hogs made the playoffs. Coach must've done ok. |

C'mon Mohel. all the Hawks have to do is hire Trotz, because of the "system" and the Hawks are Cup finalists. I bet if they would hire Trotz, Kane would ask to be traded.
BTW looks like the system failed the Isle this year, or was it the players? |

Jones always talks about winning games in his pressers, he's got his security, i believe he wants direction on how to be a positive force in winning.

Nick Leddy was obviously the glue that held that team together. |

Talk is cheap. His actions on the ice say otherwise. End of a long, bad year. Nothing to really play for. Everyone is trying to make cross-ice passes through three defenders, and the forwards are flying the zone the moment a puck is within about ten feet of one of their defensemen.
There isn't one person to blame here. It's pretty much everyone. I've got a positive impression of KD until he shows otherwise. Let's see what the offseason holds. |

Try not sucking in your own end. That would be a positive. |

Not saying this necessarily applies to the present day hogs, but it is possible to have a good AHL team that is light on, or completely devoid of future NHL talent. |

Agree that it is possible. However, there's one (maybe) future top six NHL player, and a bunch of forwards who can't help this Hawks team in the bottom six. The post I was responding to suggested the coach should be fired. I was saying the coach couldn't be too bad. |

Lower your bar Ogi. Maybe try not sucking in your own end for a period.
You have to build these things up. Can't have it all at once. |

Be better at Defense......there is your f'n direction. |

This week's summer trade proposal involving Kane, assuming he waives.
Boston is getting long in the tooth and Pastrnak becomes an UFA after next season. Bruins decides to go all in next season by signing Bergeron to a one year 35+ contract and acquiring Kane as a rental.
I'm thinking Kane should be worth a #1 pick, prospect Fabian Lysell and defenseman Matt Grzelcyk who has 2 years remaining at 3.7M. Grzelcyk could hold the fort as a veteran D alongside some prospects allowing the Hawks to move McCabe/Murphy for other assets.
Boston would have to do some other off season moves to move salary to get this done.
Or would this be a better TDL move next Spring?

You could say that about Murphy, McCabe and deHaan. Probably the worst top 4 D in the league.

i don't think Kane would go to Boston. He would do the Panarin, I only want to go to the Rangers. I don't even think he would want to go anywhere out west either.
