Idk Jan, I think that picture John Shannon posted is why everyone thinks that’s the initial hit, but it simply isn’t. That’s seconds after contact was initiated.

The initial point of contact happens with Trouba’s arms down and Sid extended forward. I think Trouba comes up after the initial hit, which occurs as Sid is trying to avoid the hit. Hence how you get the “Trouba clothesline” photo

People acting like he jumped from the rafters and peoples elbowed him…

I agree on the Shannon still shot, it’s why I also posted the full gif of the play so we can see the progression of the play.

To mirror what you said Jan in your blog and what I have been saying most of the season, the Rangers need to prove they can play 60 mins with guts and effort.
This is the HUGE difference by a million miles when compared to the team in 2014.

This team goes soft and sulks far too often. Yes their record for comebacks is positive, but I have seen too many games where players wait for other players to make an impact and give them a reason to play hard again.
They cannot win in the playoffs with any of this mentality.

Last nights game was an example of this. The team was lifeless, just waiting for something to happen instead of each player creating something, until they got a couple goals. Then they seemed to have a reason to play. That is ass-backwards in my book.

Some people criticize players for playing too soft (and rightly so; I understand that a team can't play 60+ minutes of how the Rangers came out in Game 1, but they completely let off the accelerator in Games 3 and 4 and part of last night's game), and then others complain about the rough stuff. I would have preferred that Trouba not take the early elbowing penalty (elbowing is not what he's known for), because it makes the subsequent hit look like an intentional elbow, which it was not.

The super clown Ryan Wilson cherry picks a frame from the clip claiming the point of contact was the head. Crosby gets accidentally hit by Trouba's forearm and his brain is scrambled eggs again. I would love to see Ryan Wilson on the ice probably never played a day in his life.

Unfortunate that Sid got hurt, but it is what it is. It’s a hockey play. Bang bang hit coming across the ice. One tough player on a player in a vulnerable position.

Thanks for the great write up! Hope you had a good time at the game! Going to Pitt now that you’re the good luck charm?

It’s ridiculous this is even a thing

He came back for a shift after it happen.

Oh and they almost killed our goalie intentionally game 2, so they can suck it. Suck it hard.

Exactly. It was a bang bang play. Crosby had possession of the puck in the danger zone and got popped by Trouba. Its hockey.

This 60 minutes thing is killing them. Friday has to be a 60 minutes effort.

I thought before his goal Lafreniere was the most noticeable Ranger on the ice. Kid was out there willing his team to win.

Give him the C...and the more I think of it the less I'm joking

He’s top to bottom been the best forward. And I’m gonna give Chytil credit, because he’s making a difference finally. He deserved that goal. Kakko too, what a pass to Laf on his goal.

Win or lose this series, these kids are arriving which is just terrific

Wish I could. But due to a variety of reasons, including it being Sabbath, wouldn’t be able to attend. Would be remiss if I didn’t thank Ryan for the tickets.

There are two real leaders on this team. Lindgren and Laf. Rest 82 game players

Agreed. Laf has been playing well. The kids in the past two games have shown a lot.
This is why I support possible changes in the off-season that allow the kids to start taking to top spots. Let them be the "guys" on the team and see where they go. Hell, that is why they were drafted.

the worst thing for the Penguins has gotta be knowing they had the Rangers on the ropes last night and that if they had finished them off, Crosby could have had a whole week to recover

Colorado has all that time off to recover but do you think it could be too much time?

Really? Jeff Carter? Igor precipitated the collision and then embellished it. Then, got up and played.
Your boy, Trouba, took out the best player in the series with one of many head-hunting cheap shots. Just don’t complain about Tom Wilson any more and Artemi because he plays like your guys do.
