Florida goes all in for the next 2 years with minimal salary gain, absolutely locking down the net, and getting a Giroux replacement. Ditching Bob’s deal helps, and we can probably ask for even more.

Winnipeg gets their future starter and a seasoned (but insanely pricey) backup, and the future 1/2C to go with Perfetti.

Stanley is thrown in because if they value Chairot, they’ll value his bigger, way cheaper, and slightly better clone

I love this one. Definitely on board with this. I think the Jets would make a pinch more value with Nemeth coming over, so like, Rangers add a 2nd and Jets give a 3rd back, something along those lines. Mock trades are so fun. Especially when you look at, for the Jets, what the expectation would be for Kyle Connor, who aboslutely is not on the maket

For Jets coach only Trotz is a good option mentioned as the others are more of the same Maurice clones. The Jets shouldn't make any trades until they have a head coach in place. If they were to trade Scheifele they should try and get a young, big, physical top pairing d-man in return. Getting a pile of prospects or middle 6 forwards mean the Jets lose any Scheifele trade.

Find a trade where a guy is 2 years or less away from ufa status that the return is not futures with a middle 6 forward, I doubt they exist.

Very unusual that an RFA who needs a contract to be playing for Canada at the worlds.

He has been a great fit with Drake Batherson (Senators).

Love the ambition, but there is not a single trade here the other team involved would accept. You’re asking LA to trade their future for no reason, Florida to give two players better than Scheifele for Scheifele, and Vegas to give up an elite (and cheap) defenceman just cause

Thank you Jacob for this type of column. I love speculation, even though that's usually all it is - speculation.

Right off the bat, some one stole one of my speculated deals - I had - Scheifele, D. Chisholm and a 5th going to Boston - for J. Debrusk, B, Carlo and a 1st.

Marchand and Bergeron aren't getting any younger, Bruins in win now - and Debrusk is rumored to want out of Boston. Jets get two years of JD, Bruins get twp years of Schefiele, but Carlo is signed long-term. Big rugger RD man!
