No effort. Bad penalties. Absolutely sloppy passes. Just total and complete void of situational awareness. They have no Kane, no Yamamoto, and half a Draisaitl and they can't find the motivation to move their legs and skate. Just completely unacceptable. |

Avs are definitely the deepest team in the league. Well earned victory. Sucks that Kadri is out. Hope they beat whatever team, especially if it's the Rags, in the finals. |

Agreed that goaltending is their biggest question mark, but amongst skaters...yes they are. |

Mac is number one player on offense out of the three teams, but NYR has got three good lines, and defense is pretty equal...Not trying to split hairs, but the depth is kind of equal...especially now w/ Kadri injured.

Almost exact same analysis came from oiler fan bois before the last series started. |

Welll...Oilers have two of the top 5 players in league, Kane and then..........??? Nurse, but he was hurt.
Not saying that Avalanche aren't better than Tampa or NYR, but the depth of NYR is one of their strengths...Dont think any sane person thought Ollers were a deep team |

I keep thinking I'd rather have NYR than Tampa, but I feel like that's just because "it's not Tampa". It might be a careful what you wish for thing. Kuemper can't have any sub .900 games period.
I never did understand why everyone was underrating the Rangers, but now they've caught up. Still, Sakic went out and got exactly the players this team needed to overcome injuries and make them difficult to play on all 4 lines. Plus, Kadri has every intention of playing in these playoffs again. I wouldn't bet against him being back by game 3 or 4, and that might be all the Avs need to make them impossible to beat. |

COL has the best defense in the postseason and NYR arguably the worst defense in the postseason so calling them equal is rather bizarre. Being incapable of understanding that a goalie can cover up bad defense doesn't actually make the defensemen good. |

Avs IMO, are favorites against NYR and Tampa, but who knows. The emergence of the "kid" line w/ Laf Chytil Kakko has brought this team to another level. 3 legit scoring lines |

Well against Pitt they weren't good , but it has been good against Canes and Tampa. It's OK...keep blaming Trouba and Shesty for your series loss against NYR..no one else on the team beat Pitt...I guess |

Oh yes...the Johnson's are a stellar 3rd. pairing
And before you talk about shots against in Canes series...NYR has stated many times that giving outside shots was part of game plan and collapsing. Against Tampa thus far NYR has been the better team..w/ exception of some spots in 3rd game |

That's what every team with terrible defense does. It's what the 2017 Pens did. Giving up the worst rates of shots and scoring chances along with the shortest shot distance is the definition of poor defense. - jfkst1
So Fox, Lidgren, Trouba, Miller and Scheider , Braun are a terrible defense?................Hold on...wait a second...Did you just say that the 2017 Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins had a terrible defense!!!????
OK...I can't discuss this with you anymore.
Ever think that maybe teams are OK w/ trading chances from the outside so they can get more opportunites in the transition game, and like to be more offensive..especially when a top notch goalie is in net and makes the saves he should make and many saves that many goalies don't? Ever think that teams with excellent goalies take a few more chances offensively, and would play a much more defensive game if they had a goalie of lesser talent? |
|
|
|
Whoever we play, we are going to need both goalies to be better. Frankie had a very rough one in game 4. Kuemper, if healthy I feel should get the nod for game 1 of the finals. |
