Not quite, that's a little excessive. |

As an Avs fan, NO! Short of some sort of magic or major discount, no way this improves the team in a cap league. Already losing too much depth to UFA. Lost prospect/pick depth to buy a cup. Personally I'd rather have Kadri. Need a 2C to the extent I'd almost rather have Toews. |

more Kane BS. Sure...the cap strapped champs are going to take Kane. Who says Kane is unhappy? How do you know?
BTW if Kane does waive NMC...I doubt the Hawks are going to send him to a division rival and the Aves may not have what the hawks want.

Did this source mention the part about Makar needing a new deal soon? Or was that your analysis? Because he's signed for the next 5 seasons. Landeskog is the one and only player on the roster signed for longer than Makar.
As for all this cap space, it's not just Kadri and Nichuskin. Lehkonen is an RFA. It will be $2.5M just to qualify him. They will probably try to bring back Josh Manson who likely gets $4M+. If they let guys like Burakovsky, Helm, Ryan Murray walk away as UFAs...then they still have to replace them on the roster.
So it's not as easy as you think to squeeze in Kane at $10.5M, even if Chicago retains some money. And what assets does Colorado have to send for Kane? I'm guessing Newhook, so that's another job to replace. Avs don't have a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th next season. So do they trade their 1st too? Also no 2nd and 3rd in 2024. So do they trade that 1st instead?
Now fast forward to the following season. MacKinnon goes from $6.3M to $11-12M. Kane might come in close to $10M. Devon Toews will be a year away. The entire cap structure is ruined and your depth and prospects are stripped away. But it's an E4 which means it's confirmed by multiple sources tied to the player and team... |

Before a Rumor is posted, maybe a hint of the source would make it somewhat believable. This should be considered a Fantasy not a Rumor. Reason ... 1. Kane has to approve his trade 2. The team doesn't have the cap space to make this happen 3. Colorado doesn't need Kane to win another cup |

How do you know Kane is unhappy? Common sense. In the past 4 months, Hawks traded or let walk Hagel, DeBrincat, Strome, Kubalik, and Dach. So, basically all their decent forwards except him and Toews. Also, he and his agent are meeting with Davidson to discuss his future. So yeah, I'm thinking he's unhappy.

I think Kane is unhappy losing in Chicago. As a competitor he wants to win and if the Hawks can move MAF to the Wild, they could move Kane to the Avs if the Avs present the proper return unlike what the Hawks got for Debrincat |

Hopefully the return is greater than what the underwhelming return for DCat, but I am not confident that will happen.

I heard from a source this morning about this also. It was today's 32 Thoughts podcast, the same source who mentioned it at the deadline. |

Kane to Cap Floor Team-->half retained
Cap Floor Team to Colorado-->half retained
Davidson is selling everything at bargain basement prices. You think he's going to holdout for a premium piece like Newhook or Byram? No. He's going to unload Kane for a pick. Dude has a mandate from someone on high to clear the decks. |

Don't forget the "high ranking business source who does not play games with rumours".
That was the source who said the Leafs were signing Campbell in the next 2 weeks. That was 6 weeks ago. |

MacKinnon is making 6.3M and is a UFA after this year. Is he going to get McDavid(12.5M), Matthews (11.6M) or Panarin (11.6M) money? The cap isnt going up that much next yr. They only have 3 forwards signed beyond this year. But they are set in goal and on D. Kane is 33 years old. Would they take on 10.5M this year and then offer a longer term contract? |

Just go to 28:50 here and you too can hear from the 'source.' It may or may not happen but it's a much better source than usual around these parts.
