That would be great. I think, with Kadri not signing yet, he is waiting for Colorado to move some money. Sam Girard is the only player worth moving in Colorado (Except Erik Johnson @ $6m, but that's not happening), and even then, Girard is on a great deal, but Byram can step up, provided he stays healthy. Girard would fetch a great return, except for the fact the team taking him is clearly helping the Avalanche greatly. Interesting situation with Kadri

The Jets have to trade PLD ASAP. The longer this drags on the less the Jets get in return. |
|
|
|
The jets have some cap space now to work with. Given the unknown status of Dubois after this season and Scheifele to a lesser degree, Jets should go all in this season.
Comparable to how Masai Ujiri went all in with Kawhi Leonard on a 1 year run that resulted in a chip for the Raptors, Chevy should have the same type of mentality. |

I think the deadline is a better idea for this. They would get more from a team looking to use him for the playoffs and letting him walk/trade to Montreal. |

Colorado would actually be a logical 1 year rental place to take that 2C spot if Kadri leaves (altough it now seems likely he resigns). Girard (++) would have to go the other way. Then Colorado could flip him to Mtl next summer and recoup some assets.
Dubois + Dillon (50% retained) vs Girard, Compher, Kaut, 2023 1rst round pick, 2025 2nd round pick? |

Pretty well the exact situation I am thinking.

Columbus just gave away Bjorkstrand to get cap compliant, so I doubt Girard will get that great return. I know one thing the Jets won't be in on a Girard deal. |

CBJ wasn't cap compliant and COL is. I'd expect COL will make the playoffs even with the 2C hole in their lineup so they can wait until the deadline to make a move if need be. |

Trade PLD to Carolina, they need another a C, Necas is expendable with the play of Jarvis and the Pacioretty trade. and get their 1st round also. |

If they do trade him and The Habs won’t pay up, I send him to the highest bidder that’s not Montreal. If I get several similar offers I give consideration to a team that is most likely able to convince him to stay and extend, like LA or Anaheim. I don’t mind if they go all Raptors-like and go for it all. That could make for a looong rebuild if it go poorly. |

Trading to Carolina would play into the image of a bunch of jerks. I would love to see them sign him long term where he doesn't go to the Habs.
I wonder if Pesce, Jarvis and a pick would work for PLD, Gawanke and some salary retained.
The Jets can then flip Demelo as our third right D and Kovacevic sits the press box as our extra. |
|
|

Washington is still going for it and either Shief or PLD make a lot of sense for what they are doing. 3/4 of their team is under contract for 3 years. You don’t sign Kuempher unless you are still Going for it. Backstrom will be out for most if not the whole year, they really need PLD or Shief.
Watch out for the caps as a potential trade partner |

You will never get that for PLD. Sorry. I think Necas, drury and a first rounder is more realistic, but I’d like to squeeze another prospect of possible

You may be right. I don't even know what to think after seeing the Tkachuk trade. If I'm Chevy, I get on the phone to see if the Panthers want Stanley or Dillon to replace Weegar. |

I am actually on the phone with them offering them Wheeler for Reinhardt.
Looking forward to Tkachuk and Barkov playing 30 mins/game under Maurice….. |

Well....with Tkachuk in a pinching situation with Calgary just got an INSANE return...my hopes for a PLD return just got a lot higher |

PLD press availability on Monday. What are the odds that PLD is still a Jet by that time?
Signing a team friendly contract so soon makes one wonder if there is already a deal in the works, doesn't it? |

I think it is all but guarunteed that Dubois is a Jet on monday. I think at this point I would be like...82% sure he will play for the Jets come October |

Jets are done with offseason moves. Chevelallsummeroff is probably already at the cottage. |

The Tkachuk trade didn’t hurt PLD’s value, that’s for sure.
But sure would be nice if him, wheels, and a D were all gone by now |

I think he'll be a Jet by Monday and he'll say a lot of politically correct things but his end goal is going to Montreal though he won't say that, some delusional Jets fans will find some false hope in what Dubois will have to say, he's gone at some point, just a matter of when.
The single year team friendly contract is to make him easier to trade imo, he took less to leave Columbus and he's taking less to leave Winnipeg.
Just my opinion but I'm guessing that Chevy doesn't want to take back much cap and/or term in a Dubois trade so PLD signing this contract can make him easily digestible from a cap perspective to a lot of teams and still leaves Dubois free to make more money and/or sign a longer term deal next year.
I think whenever Dubois is traded the return is going to be pretty underwhelming. I'd be curious to know what Montreal's real offer is right now, there's been some names bandied about like Dvorak, Anderson, etc in rumors and debates but if they're really what's been offered who knows. |

Ultimate is right. Chevy is under some delusion that he built a great team, but bad luck cost them last year. When in reality his team has been a fringe playoff contender the past 3 years
Now this year he doesn't have Copp, Stastny and Comrie and is banking on Perfetti Barron and Rittich along with Bowness coaching making them better.
