How heads do not roll when you look at it from that perspective is a mystery.

Just another in a long line of reasons of why this GM is complete garbage. He really is an embarrassment.

They don’t even have players they can trade that will bring back top end value.

I don't have any problem being over the cap with a terrible team if it is part of a patient strategy to let terrible contracts expire, tank and be very high in the draft order, and have assembled some prospects and picks in the process even by trading away decent talent and thus making ourselves worse.
Would we be in a better cap situation by giving away our first round pick to get rid of JVR? Sure. But that doesn't make us better.
My problem is that I can't tell what we're doing. Giving away Claude for a first round pick makes sense. Trading a bunch of picks to get our latest overpaid and overrated offensive defenseman doesn't.
What I'm really curious about is whether Fletch should NOT get fired when we do end up with the worst record in the NHL because at least that strategy makes sense... Especially with not signing Johnny hockey.
But these other moves don't make sense, including getting veterans to take third and fourth line spots away from prospects.

Imagine the Flyers winning the draft lottery and choosing a potential generational talent 1st overall. Is Fletcher the GM that you want building a team around a guy like Bedard?!? You know what’s going to happen… They will unload their remaining draft picks to rid their current bad contracts, only to sign more bad contracts and waste Bedard’s prime. Zero faith in Fletcher. The guys gotta go before trade deadline.
