The Calder trade made sense at the time. There was chemistry with Carter and Richards IIRC - corduroy
Kyle Calder was poop. That deal never made sense to me considering we just lost Primeau to a career ending injury and giving up Handzus who was still one of the best two way centers in the game. We got lucky he got hot when he did and we were able to get Lasse Kukkonen who I loved. Good shot blocker. Was this a Clarke trade? |

Bump is a good goal scorer but he’s not close to being the best high school player in Minnesota let alone the USA. Six Minnesotans were selected ahead of him in the draft.Max Strand was selected Mr. Hockey and wasn’t even drafted. Sam Rinzel just finished his junior year in high school and was selected 25th overall.Bump is one dimensional right now.

Clarke made alot of deals that were head scratchers....like when he dealt Sharp and Meloche to Chicago, only to trade to get Meloche back again like 6 months later lol. Then 2 days later pulled off the Handzus deal. |

I wonder if she thinks these United States are so terrible now.
The sentence is ridiculous and an obvious political pawn for Russia. |

Yes, a black lesbian woman. Which is why pro-Putin MAGAts have no sympathy for her being held as a political prisoner.

We're sitting here in this cell,
You know it's like a living hell.
Was what you did really a crime?
The judge says you have to serve time.
It's the law, you're in jail.
It's the law that sets your bail.
Don't bother to try and fight,
It's only a few more nights

The law she actually broke, even within Russia, is a minor offense. The charges were draconian (smuggling with criminal intent rather than possession of a small quantity of an illegal substance) as was the sentence.
There was a foreign hockey player in the KHL a few years ago that was arrested for possession of a small quantity of marijuana.
He got a 60-day sentence and a (very hefty) fine. Griner got 9 years in prison. The main difference wasn't the offense itself. It was the timing. |

Freanor thinks if you face the repercussions for breaking the law in a foreign country that it means you’re a political prisoner 💀 |

The Britney issue is kabuki. The sentence is leverage. Russia will pretzel the US into giving up much more than the terrorist that’s being floated. Other brutal regimes around the world will take note. I expect more of these lopsided Bowe Bergdahl and Britney trades.

Did she break the law Bill yes or no?
You do not enter countries that hate Americans with illegal items. Countries that will look to stick it to you. It really is that simple. |

That sentence had nothing to do with Grinier, her crime, or Russian law. It had everything to do with Ukraine. If they had not found her, they would have found someone else.
Anyone who pays even 1% of attention to foreign news would know that. It is amazing it even needs to be explained. This sort of thing happens all the time.
Also, btw, I recall someone posting very emotionally about how the world has become so unforgiving of anyone making a mistake. How nowadays we are so quick to judge a young person's folly and never give that person a second chance when we should.
I think it was the Brendan Leipsic incident. Any guesses about the identity of that person? |
