If they sign Chiasson I think it will be too much of a signal that things are going to be the same as last year. He gets in good position offensively and he's not bad for banking pucks off his skates in front of net, but that's kind of the extent of his game unfortunately. |

Thanks Carol, Chiasson is certainly part of the best top 9 in the league, he’s our Perry/Thornton/Hossa/etc |

Well done Carol!!
Sure wish Gaunce was back but alas his 7-year power forward term is up. Great value on the 4th line but after 148 NHL games played he might be done. We need our bottom 6 to make no more than 975K each to be a contender.
Thanks also for the Pods update will be nice to have them speaking Russian in the change rooms like OV did with his buddies. Didn't cause any problems at all lol.

Would be nice to have Chiasson back at 750K. Great value player can go up and down the lineup and on PP. Plus fits the narrative of bottom 6 players have to make under 1 mil per here. |

Don't worry about it, this is the year there'll be no injuries, the starting line-up will all play 82 games. |

Partly my point. The depth is horrendous. Demmer is relied on too much with a full lineup let alone when injuries hit. Chiasson will be in after an injury or two, if not in the starting lineup. And it's not the coach's fault either, just where the (lack of) depth is at. That and banking on bounceback years from everyone significant aside from JTM or TD has me believing this team will be almost exactly the same standings wise.
PK might be better right off start with Mikey, that's the only difference I see this year. |

The only change in this team is that they are all a year older, whether that's good or bad we'll see. |

Glad to see Podkolzin is feeling more at home in the city, I think he has the potential to be a really solid player for a long time if he keeps improving. |

People talk a ton about depth, but I never see anyone point to a team that they think has good depth. Like what team in the league has the best fringe-NHLers waiting in the wings? |

Guess the Knights GM wasn't as confident in their goaltending as you are

Tampa and Colorado are 2 that come to mind immediately. Depth isn't guys waiting to be called up or moved from the press box, it's having guys who can move up & down the line up. Or are you using the other teams suck, too argument? |

"[The Golden Knights are] a great hockey team," Hill said Tuesday. "They want to make the playoffs and make a push for a Cup. I'm excited, and for the expectations, we're all here to win a Stanley Cup. That's why you play the game: To win a Cup."
Sounds like they’re pushing to win the cup, no prob. |

I think it’s a bit of both.
You need guys who perform from the third line, could step up and play first/second in a pinch and you need guys who can come up and produce at the NHL level as well.
Instead the Canuck are moving Chiasson up to play with Miller and Garland - no offense to Chiasson, he seems like a good guy and he did his best, but that’s not a real good first line AND filling in with AHL McDavid (Bailey), who again seems like a good dude, but just doesn’t seem capable of producing anything in the NHL. |

In that case we don't fully know what the Canucks have in depth. Hoglander and Podkolzin are both 3rd liners and very young, so we don't yet know what to expect if/when they get pushed into top 6 roles. Kuzmenko and Mikheyev both seem like solid middle 6 forwards to me, which would indicate decent depth by your definition no? |

Depth is who replaces your 3rd liners when they have to fill in for the top 6. |
