Anthony Travalgia: Golden opportunity ahead for Pavel Zacha
With Brad Marchand sidelined to begin the season, Pavel Zacha is expected to begin the season on the Bruins' top line. - Anthony Travalgia
Kid has a bullet of a shot, great speed, and powerful. Just like Johnny Moore..... Can't seem to put everything together. Hopefully playing with the quality vets can help him round off his game a bit more. Hopefully he hits the ground runnning while your boys continue their rehab.

Hey, I know you.
Also, he's such an underrate playmaker, though I don't think he's a fast skater.
So with all that, Bruins fans asking "If he is that good, why did Devils get rid of him?"
He had spurts where he put it all together, but not enough.
He was a kid expected to be a rockstar because of this draft position but he was surrounded by other kids trying to figure stuff out as well.
So like you said, around quality, creative vets I think we'll see Zacha find his way. |

Having a player like Bergeron take Zacha under his wing could be a turning point for him. Probably asking too much for him to become the heir apparent to Bergy, but if he could round out his game to being a solid 2C that would be a fantastic development.
Really curious to see what Montgomery can get out of the young kids. Back end has a lot of questions to start the season so its going to be an interesting start. |

You're gonna love his PK. He knows when to strike on PK. Very smart kid. |

I'm not expecting an offensive dynamo like pasta. But if the kid can manage 50 points or more and that is his peak, and be good defensively, I would be satisfied with that. |

He may begin on the top line but I doubt he sticks there. It’s difficult to judge him cuz most of his time in New Jersey was developing.. but he had several seasons and was always too inconsistent and too passive. I’d be shocked if he’s a 2nd line center someday. He was best on wing, even that was 2nd line winger at his best. He seems like a great guy and is good on the pk.. but that’s about it. The rest is inconsistent. But as was already said.. he was also lined up with kids also finding their way, but not always. I’m curious to see if things improve for him in Boston. I can definitely say I’m happy with getting Haula, who we know will consistently at least give us Zacha’s inconsistent “B-game”, even though Zacha *may* have a higher ceiling. |

Haula was a pleasant surprise last season. He played above his role on as 2C last season, but did a pretty decent job at it until season end where I think it caught up with him. Should fill the middle 6 in jersey pretty nicely. |

I think playing with Patrice and Marchand did a lot to help Debrusk become a little more consistent last year. Hopefully Zacha and Debrusk can both take a step forward this year.

I'm actually hoping Lysell is ready and we see Debrusk playing his natural RW and Lysell playing LW with Bergy in center. Once Marchand is back, move Debrusk to the 3rd line with Coyle (if he's still here) and Zacha with Zacha at center. |

And if Debrusk is playing better than Lysell then put Debrusk back at Bergy's right and move Lysell to the 3rd line. |

Much more relaxed after hearing Pasta's comments to the press today. Certainly sounds like he isn't going anywhere. |

Chara has officially retried. He will sign a 1 day contract with the Bruins to retire. |

I'm into the idea. However, I don't think people would dig my brand. Hyper critical.
EDIT:
For real a little disappointed there isn't a blog up for this. Chara coming to Boston was the cornerstone of the rebuild and making the Bruins a relevant team again. Not sure if any of you remember just how bad it was coming out of the lockout. The level of interest in Bruins was at an all time low.
Chara was great leader and Bruin. The guy embodied everything I wanted in a captain and hockey player in general. A 108.8 MPH slapshot wasn't a bad asset to have as well. It was very cool to see him do the 1 day contract. I typically think that stuff is hokey and usually just a money and/or attention grab. However this just felt right from the moment I read the news!
Thanks for everything Big Z! You retiring is truly the end of an era in my adult life. Still feels a bit off not having him out there. It was a privilege to watch him wear our laundry, and represent Boston for 14 seasons. |

Best of luck to Big Z. Hope the bruins bring him on in some capacity. Maybe in development or in strength and conditioning as someone said. Maybe he can teach the D some snarl. |
