Kind of liking the second line. I believe that Raddysh and Kurashev formed a line with Lafferty for little while late last season. Maybe with a guy like Domi centering them two, he can put a little spark in them, and Domi is more the offensive player than Lafferty. Athaniseou on the third line with Lafferty, has tons of speed between the two of them. Let's watch and see tonight |

Did we lose the edit function? I'd much rather add substance to a post other than being "First."
Lafferty has impressed me with his speed and tenacity after appearing just to be a giveaway for Nylander. With such low expectations, he has probably impressed most of us. While he's best suited in the bottom six on normal teams, I think he'll spend significant time in the top 6 this year, especially as players are moved for picks.
Edit- oddly the edit function wasn't working this morning. OK now. |

Blackhawks should run a promotion, fans get to coach and GM make the lines and roster like it would matter. |

All you need to know about Richardson's systems.
https://chicago.suntimes....ockey-low-to-high-offense.
So much different for the forwards to have to come back into the defensive zone to help out on breakouts than the Colliton "system" - LAHawk
Forwards have defensive responsibility? No way....
All that is needed now is for the coach to enforce that. Might not help this year, but it will down the road. |

Well, you know there will be Kane "rules" as far as forward defensive responsibility, as in Kane can do whatever he wants.

Jim Nill is officially my favorite GM in the league.
Locked up Jason Robertson for 4 years at $7.75 per. Kid is 23 right now and has proven it for two years in the league now.
Bravo! |

9.3M salary the last year, so that will be the QO for the next year of the new contract. Of course by that time the cap will be much higher (supposedly).

Nill still has Benn and Seguin for a total of $18.3 for the next 3 years., Seguin for more.

And if he is still playing the same way, he'll be worth that QO. In the meantime, you are not locked in forever with an un-moveable contract and the player gets a little security as well. Win-win. |

The Hawks aren't the only team with crippling contracts.
Speaking of players with crippling contracts, I had my annual hockey pool draft last night. I was able to snag Patrick Kane in the 4th round (14 teams). It wasn't that long ago Kane was a top 5 pick. I drafted Jones too (to hell with +/-), I got him in the 12th round.

I don't think we should get too attached to Lafferty. If he plays decently slotting up and down the lines, he'll become a trade candidate ala Hagel. Won't get the same return, but he's cost controlled for another season and may be the type of player contending teams need and want for the playoff run.

Lafferty could yield a better return than Toews. |

Good point Boiler. Playing on top 6 with even some PP time might get him in that nice 30-40 point range, perfect for trading when high. |

Didn't want him getting hurt in a meaningless game prior to the big trade announcement.

Just came up with how we could say, Kane - ING our opponent. Except we will usually be getting caned this season.
Blackhawks defense tonight TOI interesting. Roos had over 20 Seth Jones led with 24..Regula around 20, Stillman the least around 15. Vlasic 18. |

name 3 players on the team today who will be on the team when they next reach the WCF - I do think Jones will be unloaded somehow in the next 2 yrs
