Almost turned the game off in the 1st....Nah, I had to watch them come back. Bert had a beauty to start the comeback. Nice goals by Elmer and Joe! Both deserve to be on the team, but I don't see it happening with all the vets they have. There needs to be some movement yet before Monday's deadline. The Oil put Janmark on waivers....a very serviceable bottom 6 center.
Nice to see the Wings pull this out, but face it, it should have been theirs from the get-go. Yeah it's only preseason, but we really do not want these lazy habits to continue into the season. Starting on time is a requisite in a winning team.
Thanks again for coming back, Jeremy! |

If they intend to play Soderblom on the 4th line, he is probably better off playing in an offensive role in GR to gain more offensive confidence. That being said, i think he is already better than Rasmussen. He's bigger, stronger on the puck with a much better hockey IQ and hands.
Edvinsson played better than he did in the other pre-season games but i still think he is better off in GR.
Horrible start to the game but they turned it around. They can't do that against NHL teams or the game could be over pretty quick. |

That last line. That’s exactly it. You can’t start that poorly. I agree that Soderblom needs minutes and reps. Edvinsson too. GR could be so much fun |

Thank you H2! In a brief moment of honesty, the pain was so overwhelming I thought I wasn’t gonna make it. It’s better but I’d never been through so much. I missed you all so much |

Last season GR was mostly career AHLers so i didn't bother to watch them much aside from highlights.
This season GR should be stacked and probably might have way too many defensemen. Some of them might end up in Toledo. Assuming Edvinsson, Johansson and Viro all start in GR, then you also have McIsaac, Sebrango, Barton, Newpower and Kampfer on top of players signed by GR. Then you might add more when Walman and Pysyk return from injuries (if everyone is healthy). On forward, GR should be able to fit whoever doesn't make the Wings no problem. In net they do have a bit of a logjam too with Olkinuora, Brattstrom and Cossa and GR has a goalie signed (Lethemon) so unless injuries hit or they decide to send Cossa back to juniors, at least one guy might end up in Toledo.
This is a good problem to have though with too many prospects and not enough spots in the AHL. I wouldn't mind them signing Biakubutuka but where would he even play? I think the Hawks or their AHL team offered him a contract but the Wings haven't and they haven't released him or played him since either...not sure what is going on with him. |

He does disappear from time to time, he did the same in Chicago.
Watching Soderblom last night was interesting, he moves well for his size, could be a bright future. He was productive for only 13 TOI. Larkin showed up to play as always.
The puck movement in the 3rd period was good by both teams.

There are already injuries around the league. Someone may have to at least kick tires if Copp gets going |

Cossa assigned to GR so they won't be returning him to the WHL. I wonder which goalie will end up in Toledo because i doubt GR will keep 4 goalies around. |

Yeah, I think he's tradeable. Certainly won't bring much of a return; most valuable will be the roster available to a player with a longer term future with the team. |

Am wondering, with Regular Season rosters required Monday by 5pm, if the trade market heats up over the next 3 days. Agree he probably won't fetch much of a return.... Really is a log-jam of players vying for charter airplane flights v riding the bus. And there are some viable rookies, kids have definitely stated their case eloquently.
Finally caught up on a few games: Soderblom & Berggren look good (I personally am in favour of keeping "Tickle The Twine, Elmer".....y'all can use that, if ya like!!!). Eddy feels like he's just this short (<>) of claimimg a spot, see what happens tonight. Veleno may take a road trip to GR, Bergy could surprise & get a seat on the Red Wing express. Honestly, aside from Soderblom & Eddy, I could remotely guess what's gonna happen. Heck, anyone who says something will happen is only guessing.
Love seeing this cunundrum in Hockeytown!!!! |

I don't think anyone is trading for him this early in the season with a 3 mil salary. Half the teams are over the cap and most don't have the cap space to take him. Wings likely would have to take a player with the same salary/cap hit or more to move him imo. |

Happy that i found a site to stream games that give the option of home or away feeds although the away feed for this game is TSN which is not the Wings feed. Anyhow good to have streams for all games. |

Found it streaming on ESPN, stateside...TOR play-by-play team. I really don't like broadcast teams other than Mick & Ken. I saw a "behind the scenes" where Ken meets with the PR teams for opponents to ensure he peonounces names correctly, gets play back-stories, etc... Doc Emrick did the same thing, Gary Thorne did as well. Just shows how classy Mick & Ken are. They're indeed special....and Mickey-isms are the best.
Comment on Suter; thanks for the post above about his salary! Good catch.... |
