First!
Regarding SteveRain's post about Toews at the end of the last thread, Jumbo Joe never did win. Fair point that anything can happen if and after Toews gets dealt. But given his concussion history and all the miles he has logged, retirement seems like it would be his next move. |

Not sure what to make of this. I still have the Center Ice package, but fear I won't be watching it a ton. |

I hope they don't sit Vlasic since he made the NHL roster.

Sad to see Hagel in a Bolts uni, but still can't believe what we got for him. |

Meh. While I like the player I think Hagel is going to have a hard time matching his production of last season. His shooting % was unsustainable over the long term. He is going to have to become something he hasn't been so far and that is to become a volume shooter to reach those goal totals again.
He will still be a useful player, tho. |

TB's bottom 6 is a far cry from their last Cup winning team.
Kravtsov already injured. |

It's the little things his hustle gave the Bolts a 2 man advantage. If they score that's all Brandon Hagel.

I think with Caleb, McCabe, and Murphy still banged up hes going to see a lot of time. After those guys get healthy itll be on him to make it hard to take him out of the line up. |

It'll be hard to sit your best LDman
Murphy sucks, Caleb Jones sucks and McCabe actually looked decent with Regula |

Vlasic is only on the roster until McCabe ( home opener is projection, he already is practicing with a contact jersey) comes off IR. Then Vlasic goes to Rockford like Reichel.
Actually the Hawks best LD is playing in CHL. |

Vlasic is unable to play right now...
Not sure he goes down after they trade Murphy in a month...because Tinordi is a stiff...oh, it doesn't matter with the tank.
let's hope the Lightning back six suck, along with the dee, so that first and second rounder this summer is mid round, not close to a contender. |

Yet Bettman allows Nashville and San Jose to play games over the Salary Cap. So he needs to fix the lottery again. If Bedard gets drafted by Arizona that would be talent wasted by the league.

The Athletic did their crazy predictions for the 2022/2023 season, which was Kane getting hurt and not traded.
Darth’s Take: Reichel will not be in the Blackhawks organization at the end of the 2022/2023 season. |

With the Hawks luck the Lightning will be terrible and draft 10th overall in 2023, bumping the 2 first rounders to 2024 and 2025.

Let's try this again.
Best scenario for the Hawks in the 2023 draft.
Tampa Bay is a bubble team barely missing the playoffs and gets the #16 pick. They do not move up in the lottery.
Davidson somehow finagles the Dallas pick from the Rangers in a Kane trade. Maybe Kane waives for 3 contenders so there is a bidding war. Or maybe there are conditions on the trade such as Hawks get the Rangers own first unless the Rangers win the Cup. If so, then Hawks get the Dallas pick. NYR go all the way and Dallas misses the playoffs gets the 13th pick and also does not move up in the lottery.
Hawks make a draft day trade and pick up a 1st from a cap strapped team - Edmonton for example - to take on salary. Let's say that's pick #29.
Hawks earn a top 3 of their own due to their dismal play this season.
So Hawks have #2, #13, #16, #29 in next summer's draft. We can dream can't we?

13 teams using LTIR to become cap complaint. Those are the rules. So be it. It's got to the point that a permanently injured well paid player with term remaining on his contract is a valuable commodity to contending teams with a high payroll. I'm thinking that maybe Murphy could be in this situation in a year or two with his concussion history and bad back.
