This trip was tough to watch. Hopefully, that Detroit left a bad taste in their mouths.

Our special teams are abysmal and we're consistently giving up multiple penalties per game. We either need to stop taking penalties or figure out how to stop cross-ice passes on the PK. Otherwise, we will be neck and neck with the Yotes in the Bedard sweepstakes...

Alright clown show needs to end.

Eakins systems clearly do not work. No team should consistently give up 40+ shots a game. Even the lowly coyotes are putting together better efforts. Pat Verbeek needs to make a decision by December on the direction of this team and start making the appropriate moves. John Gibson needs to be moved before his value dips even further. This team has appropriate pieces for the future and clearly aren’t going to compete this season, but gotta get a coach in here that can right the ship and develop systems that can be put in place for next season.

And holy hell this PK is pathetic. 65%! Coaching staff clearly is failing.

If this isn't Rock Bottom .. what the hell is...

There is no way they actually practice the PP or PK... not with it looking like that.

Guys are completely lost out there. A 5 x 3 and you cannot even get into the offensive zone.

A PK that lets Perron just hammer the onetimer .. He should have never been allowed to leave the Ducks.

Constantly just dump and chase with no sustained offensive zone time.

Eakins has to go..

Oh and Tampa, Vegas and Leafs coming in... I'm sure we will sweep them.

Ok, I usually think dumping the coach is a pass-the-buck move designed to buy time for a GM, but since GMPV was just hired and doesn't seem to be going anywhere, Eakins has got to go. Hopefully, he can convince Barry Trotz to come in and teach these kids some structure. I knew it would be bad without Getzlaf but I didn't know it would be this bad. Whatever chemistry that was built up from last year is gone. You can tell it on the ice, they are thinking out there and not reacting. That 5-on-3 yesterday was pathetic! There is plenty of skill in the line-up to at least be dangerous with a 2-man advantage, hell, they had a hard time getting it in the zone!
By Sunday the Ducks will most likely be 1-7-1, and while they will have a lot of home games left, the season is pretty much over by then. Why not get the next coach in now so he can at least evaluate the players and put in his systems while the results don't matter?

As bad as they were at the end of last season, it seems like the PK group has regressed. It's a young team that isn't very good defensively which means a lot of time in their own zone and a lot of penalties. Fall behind 2-0 on PP goals in the first period and you're chasing the game the rest of the way. This team isn't good enough to chase good teams from behind. Fix the PK and this team will be more competitive. Not good, but watchable.
