I think this its such a good time to rebuild. I really hope KD and Co. know what they are doing, if they do in 2 to 3 years we will hear and start seeing the talent in the minors, impressed we have 3 LD representing on the Canada Jr team.
I kind of disagree with you Zach i felt the rebuild started the moment Bowman was canned. The trade to the Bolts kicked it off. |

Great blog Zach and happy Festivus hawks fans
No pain no gain. Hossa said it himself. You need multiple great players to win. We’re doing what is needed.
I look forward to this team returning to playing great hockey. And not the mediocre hockey we’ve seen the last few years

With the Team Canada players they also named Ethan Del Mastro an assistant captain.
The future is bright for sure if they stick to the plan and not rush the younger guys, adding a Bedard or Fantilli would be the icing on the cake but only time will tell what happens. |

I'm a strong believer in if they just focus on themselves and draft best available, to themselves, even if they draft 3rd it will work out, most important is the ability to keep the outside noises from second guessing themselves.
And continue to make moves like they did with Rinzel. See someone they really like fall. All we did was eat salary on a short term contract. Watching the interview the base of his neck sure looks like he has some growing left to do weight wise.

Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays all!!
I can't wait until the Hawks are back to being good again, with Del Mastro, Allan, Reichel and Dach as key cogs, and people saying that KD shouldn't get all the credit, or he was gifted players.
Cheers everyone! |

Boqvist returns tonight for the Jackets, playing his first game since Oct 25. I’m expecting a multi-point night for him. |

I thought it was Columbus who said they were ready to compete? I guess they meant for the top pick in the draft. |

From the last blog, yes Wiz, a league that counts hits, PIMs and blocks is considered a banger's league. I hope you utilize Dobber's site for fantasy hockey. The bible and a mountain of daily info. There is so much info be sure to click around the site. https://dobberhockey.com/
And yes, IMO that was a good article by Laz comparing here the Hawks and Preds are as organIzations. IMO no doubt a rebuild is the right way to go in CHI and the Preds would have been better off too instead of long term contacts to an older core that hasn't won anything. Not like they are the Pens or WSH with older guys who have won.

Also from the last blog, Boilermaker, each goalie is different but I don't think Soderblom has been damaged by his 15 games up with the Hawks conceding on such a bad team in the NHL it's easy enough to develop some bad habits and have your confidence take a hit.
Reason I think so is he's had a long 3 yr stretch of very good hockey. A yr in the Svedish AHL, the top league in Sveden then last yr in the AHL. He has a nice foundation to fall back on and IMO he'll find his game back in the AHL soon. https://www.eliteprospect...er/288446/arvid-soderblom
I'm not sxold on any goalie in the system being an NHL #1 but I do like Soderblom, Commesso and Basse. Legit prospects at different stages of development. That said we don't know how KD feels about the position and how much resources he's willing to address it.
For instance, if he gets a 3rd 1st rounder this yr would he pull the trigger on a kid like Hrabal with a 1st rd pick in a draft so deep in position players? Either way due to the volatility of the position I'd like to see the Hawks draft another goalie this yr.

I would as well, but not in the first round Rico. Draft best available in the first round that’s not a goalie. In the second round, if best available is a goalie, then by all means grab him. |

My post about a comparison in performance between two rookies (Mitchell and Phillips) vs C Jones is really going to boil down to whether KD determines what future C Jones has ....then is he worth keeping or is it time to let the various prispects.get an opportunity on a pairing where they get about 16 TOI.
I figured C Jones would play himself out if a job if he was given an opportunity to play regularly through the first half of this season. Clearly C Jones is comparable to the deoarted Gus.in that both have ability but are prone to defensive blunders too often each game.. I don't see C Jones becoming consistently stable or reliable defensively. While I wascwillingbti let him play this year and prove he has a future, he has served in essence as a placeholder until some kids push him.out
I also would like to see another orosoect come in and one of the veterans moved. Obviously S Jones isn't going anywhere, at least not thus season
In the throes of a rebuild now that some prisoects had a roster if NHL and some pro experience, are they really in over their head atvthe NHL level later thus season. As in, after the trade deadline? Would they be any worse than C Jones.
Vlasic may not round into.shape after recovery from injury. But Galvas Roos + Regula might garner another look despite the success of Phillips and Mitchell.
Why not? |

Bobrivsky for S Jones?
If Jones doesn’t say no, who says no between the hawks and panthers?
Will be interesting to see how Boqvist plays tonight |

Pass, rather just keep S Jones and have him here for when the kiddies are ready, he will be a valuable player to their development in the NHL. |

Zach making my day, mate
"The impatient fans, I hate to use this word, but its the only way to describe who I am talking about; these are the 2010 bandwagon fans."
I don't think I made it to August 2010 before those experts got up my nose ... rofl- anyways, hoping you and yours have a great holidays! You're an example of resilience. |
