I know the Flyers have injuries but that was just an embarrassing effort defensively. That poor young goalie, feel for him playing behind that.
Follow the Coyotes lead, blow that thing up and rebuild it from the ground up. |

Many thanks as always, Bill, for all that you do! Happy Hanukkah to you and your family and happy holidays to all! |

Yes, I felt bad for Ersson as well. I still can't believe how far this team has fallen.

Thanks again! I never knew about your blog till around when we signed Jagr. My brother in law told me about you. Times are tough for us Flyers fans, but your work covering the team is much appreciated.

Pay Risto and Hayes to fake injuries for the rest of the season and then buy them out in the off season! Please! Only saw parts of the game cause other activities were going on, but Risto on Carolina's 3rd and 6th goals? That guy is the gift that keeps on giving.
Thanks Chuckles! Hayes just continues to look lazy most nights although I wasn't a very engaged spectator this evening. |

If you're looking to rebuild doesn't Risto allow you to keep losing?

That he does. Unfortunately, he’s detrimental to Carter Hart’s health.
Everyone, have a wonderful Christmas and enjoy the last few days of Hanukah! |

No, the Flyers need to play Risto and Hayes the rest of the way, those are two players the Flyers can't afford to get hurt this season! Stay focused on the goal this season, which is to lose as much as possible! |

22 shots against, many of them high quality, in about 28 minutes of play. That was the definition of Baptism by Fire, actually more like Baptism by Firing Squad! |

Thank you, same to you! I think Hart deserves about a 1 month break, you know, give some other goalies a chance to play a bit here and gain some experience |

23 games without consecutive wins. Nov 5- Nov 8 was the last time.
32 team league including two expansion teams in the last 5 years, and this team is the laughing stock of the NHL.

Not sure the Yotes are the team they want to emulate. |

Bill Meltzer: Wrap: Flyers - bmeltzer
What’s weird is, I actually like this team more than certain teams we’ve had in the past. I didn’t like any of the Hakstol teams that featured RJ Umberger, Chris Vandevalde or Jori Lehtera. I didn’t like the last place 06-07 team until Homer made huge trades at the deadline. Something we’ll probably never ever see again. I like this team more than last season’s team. I don’t know about harder to play against but we’re not getting blown out or lying down.
Believe it or not, I’m not in love with anyone on this team. I stand up for Ristolainen or MacEwen in most cases because the criticism isn’t always deserved. I thought Ristolainen was brutal last night but it had nothing to do with accidentally being part of Hart’s injury. Goalies have players fall on them literally all the time. I just didn’t like Risto’s game. I thought Risto was stead in Toronto, bad last night. The reality for me though is, my favorite player is Ivan Provorov on this team. I feel Ristolainen has outplayed Provorov on the top pair most nights. That first goal allowed, that was on Provorov and Provy has been making bad plays like that a lot this season. Provy will look steady until he makes plays like that one, that leads to that first goal and a guy like Risto will just be there to take the minus. |

Time for Torts to back up his talk about holding players accountable by sitting Risto. He plays like an idiot and brings zero value to the lineup.
If he keeps playing him it will show Torts to be a total fraud. |

Fair point. |

It’s frustrating that, as bad and dismal as this team is, I don’t see us finishing in the bottom 4….we’ll still get a useful and impactful player in a strong draft, from 5-7….but unless we win the lottery this team isn’t getting a franchise altering player in the near future.
Part of me hopes we have the opportunity to draft Michkov. An extra 2 years (on top of what you’d expect to wait on any of the other non top 3 picks) is worth it for a potential high end impact player IMO. |

How long is Carter Hart out for? A lengthy absence could change that. One thing to keep in mind is that there are a few teams below the Flyers who have played less games.
