He was the best player on the team in his last season in SJ despite all the surrounding drama. His play hasn’t been a problem his whole career. He takes some undisciplined penalties but what he brings far outweighs that. Hopefully, he can manage his off ice life effectively going forward.

Kane coming back is obviously good news for the Oilers and the fanbase but the team still has debilitating defensive problems on the blueline and in net. It looks like another wasted campaign for the two best players in the world.

If he looks bad, what is Edmonton going to do? Make a big play for another top 6 winger? What if he looks great - then what? Oilers are now the frontrunners for who - Chychrun?

This makes no sense. Its a buyers market for rentals. So nobody feels any urgency to acquire anyone just yet. And no buyer will give up a #1 pick for a shot at Bedard. So sellers aren't happy with the proposals being offered. Not that complicated and nothing to do with Evander Kane.
