Hains: Now What?
With 31 games to go and very little to play for, emphasis has got to be on the trade deadline first and then on continued development. |

Listen to the French media pick some Q guy as the guy they want drafted and endlessly debate about it! |

meh, I think the only recurring "french-related hockey debate" that is still really going on right now is whether or not the habs should trade for Pierre-Luc Dubois, but that conversation has been happening ever since he's been drafted in the NHL.

Would Hughes be inclined to let go of Anderson as Slafkovsky might one day turn into a power forward? A crystal ball could be useful to predict the outcome of that dilemma.
it's still early, and a lot can happen, but I don't see Slaf turning into the same type of player as Anderson... I see him being less of a physical presence, but having more offensive potential. he's still learning how to throw his weight around and how to keep his head up at all times, and I think he'll end up using his size to his advantage, but I don't think he has that kind of aggressiveness. |

I think Hughes would be inclined to let go one of the worst contracts in the league in a heartbeat regardless of what type of player Slaf becomes. |

I get what you're saying, and there's no denying Anderson's numbers have been underwhelming considering his cap hit and term, but his contract isn't the most horrendous either imho. remove him from that roster and the habs suddenly become way less intimidating up front, his physical presence and leadership do have a significant value for the team.

I will say as a Duck fan .. we drafted 3 Q guys in 22 and I could not be happier.. They are all going to be really solid players ..
Not so sure what the problem / stigma is with drafting Q guys.

no matter the round, when a ti gars chez nous is drafted by montreal, the media puts unnecessary hype on the young one |

Having met and spoken with him on more than a few occasions. He had some things happen that we all wish hadn't ... I believe it made him stronger going forward. But Yeah that was a missed opportunity..

you're turned on, admit it.
and yeah a death pool does kinda sound like fun, as long as things are kept simple and it doesn't require tweaking or maintenance on a constant basis.

At this point, given the injuries and players that cannot be moved as no one wants them, I am waiting for something extremely unexpected at the trade deadline.
I hope HuGo pull something wild out of nowhere.
