First. Both teams got a fair deal. ROR and Accari are good players and will bring another dynamic to Toronto for the playoffs. The Blues are accumulating draft picks.

St Louis won. Period. Too much draft capital from TOR. Huge overpay for a FA.

Toronto wins 🤷🏻‍♂️

ROR at $1.8M, killing penalties & winning draws. Acciari’s gonna keep guys on their toes & keep Simmonds in the minors.

Our draft position stinks, so who cares about the picks with this team. Let’s see if we can get a dman!

Probably more likely to take a team friendly deal to come back to St. Louis than he is to do so in Toronto. He was already talking about being willing to take less to be on the Blues going forward.

They say the team that got the best player in the deal won. That would be Toronto. However the long term it could very well be the Blues.

This trade surprised me. I've been told that Carolina was the leading contender for O'Reilly. Four other teams also involved. But Leafs were never mentioned. The Leafs were however in the race for Barbashev. Maybe they started negotiating a trade for Barbashev and then decided to switch for O'Reilly?

P.S. I mentioned Acciari yesterday as a forward would definitely be traded and it took less than 24 hours. He was never mentioned on any rumour charts. I think Lafferty gets moved this week.

Toronto won because they got an impact forward who gives them depth at center and players who play the type of game the Leafs have not been capable of playing in the postseason, and did it without giving up their best prospect in Matthew Knies.

Hate Tor but sometimes you have to overpay to get a "final" piece. Tor wants to win so gotta do what it takes. Good for them as imo it is a good trade on both sides.

I remember a similar trade for a tough playoff player from CBJ a while back that didn’t work out. I guess repeating the past to roll the dice is just that.

Unless Leafs can squeeze in a goalie and D man. Maybe they are not done. The how is I guess more teams needed to take on cap and get back futures.

If Matthew’s is worth 20 then what is Marner worth?

Visually it looks like Toronto won, but wants behind the curtain?
Minnesota gets stuck with the check or are they promised something else?
Toronto setting up O’REILLY to be Matthews replacement or does Matthews have a nagging injury?
We do know that St. Louis is cleaning house, maybe they are the winner here?

But fewer goals against than NYR. Could this be another Ranger fan talking of an orifice not made for talking?
