I’m not sure how and I’m not saying I agree with it but I feel like Lou is going to make another fairly big move.

I'm thinking Bailey and two 2nds should get it done.

Not sure what he'd cost, but Nick Schmaltz is a somewhat intriguing option. Three more years at $5.85M and he's been close two a PPG playing in ARI over the last two seasons (106gp, 98pts)

Could bump Holmstrom down/out of the lineup at RW and be an offensive upgrade

Gostisbehere would also be interesting. He'd be a nice add on the blueline. Although that takes Aho out of the lineup and he's played pretty well.

Aho has been holding his own but he’s good for multiple gaffes a game that lately either goaltenders or other players have bailed him out for.

Didn’t realize Ghost was a UFA after this season. Has his game improved over the years? I know he was a defensive sieve for some time not sure if that was more a product of the team or dude to his play…

Seems very quiet with Islander rumors you almost get the sense something could happen.

Yeah I mean I'd be much more interested in Schmaltz. Ghost would be a little bit of an unnecessary pickup. Not entirely sure, but you can always use a d-man who can score and move the puck up the ice.

Anyone else that can be bumped from the lineup beside Holmstrom?

Aho has shown flashes, but I think Bolduc will be the better player with just his size alone.

I would take Schmaltz. I assume it would start with next years first. Not sure how that would work with the conditions we have with that pick after the Horvat trade? I assume we could put conditions on it as well where it could kick over to 25’ if Vancouver got next years.

Yep. The more quiet it is the more I think the old geezer is up to something.

I would be shocked if it was for a big name, but it does not have to be a big name to help the team. You get the sense management does not want to miss the playoffs again.

Do you not think Aho has played well? I'm confused here.

He is an absolute disaster in his own end. The only reason he plays is because he is one of the few who can skate the puck out of the zone. I'd rather he play wing before seeing him on D.

Hickey 2.0, but even smaller.

i thought Salo should have been given a longer look. I do not remember if he was even that bad when he was sent down?

He was just as bad. Funny thing I thoght Bouldic was excellent, and he had one shaky game and he was exiled off the island. I'd rather see Wotherspoon before Aho.

Hickey was 10x better in his own end. Aho definitely has some offense to his game but his D is so bad if he's not putting up 65 points plus a year I don't want him back there

I agree. I thought Bolduc was good and I would play him over Aho and Wotherspoon over Aho. Islanders are funny with young players and the very short leash they seem to get.

I mean, yeah. He's a 3rd pairing defenseman. He's not perfect, but I think he's been pretty good in his role. I think you're undervaluing his puck moving ability a little bit.

For the most part, a lot of the defenseman have been slugs in their own end this year. Mayfield and Pulock look retarded in the d-zone every bit as frequently as Aho does.

Sources: #NHL sent memo to 32 GMs today advising that acquiring injured players at the deadline to stash them on cap until playoffs will be “closely scrutinized” for cap circumvention.

This might take Nyquist and Henrique out of play, unless they can come back before end of szn.

NHL finally starting to crack down on the Tampa LTIR loophole
