Everybody went elsewhere, so PHX didn't get the bidding war they were hoping for. They also didn't retain any $$$, so that brought the return down.

Certainly looks like Armstrong chased the market away. I guess the Ottawa first was attractive as they aren't a playoff team (maybe Buzztron says otherwise) and the 23 is only top 5 protected. Still, far cry from a bundle of firsts or first round equivalent assets for Chychrun.

I think that ask was with the assumption that PHX would retain some salary.

Chychrun is over-valued imo due to injury history. Also, PIT has bigger issues than a D to fix, so assets better used elsewhere - if at all.

Pathetic return given the widely reported demand of two 1st round picks and a top prospect. Ekholm got a better return.

As someone that finds Chychrun a bit overrated, this is a pitiful return. The 1st rounder is top 5 protected. Unless ARI is concerned he will always have durability issues, they should have held him and gotten a better return in the summer.

Blues sleeping? Two first should of been a no brainer

I'm positive the Kings deal that was almost done a few weeks ago was way better than what they ended up with. They came to a verbal agreement with the Kings then tried to get cute and get more from the Kings. Blake was pissed off and walked and they ended up with a pretty bad return based on what they wanted. Arizona has too many picks and will have to start consolidating picks and prospects or they will loose a bunch of players to waivers a few years down the road.

As a lifelong coyotes fan that remembers the inaugural season. That has endured so many bad teams and bad management and bad seasons…..today is one of the more disappointing days in my life as a fan. Up until now I for the most part had faith in Armstrong, but he lost that entirely today.

Shane Gostisbehere is one of the top scoring defenseman in the game the last two seasons. And we get a future 3rd round pick for him? Orlov gets a first rounder? Jeannot gets a first rounder? Gosh, hobbled players like NyQuist and Johansson are netting better returns?

AND THEN Chychrun, after 18 months of speculation on huge prospect names and multiple firsts, we get 1 first round pick and a bag of pucks. The comps on this trade were Trouba, Burns to SJ, Seth Jones. And we didn’t get a fraction of that. Shame on Armstrong.

And no, this doesn’t mean the coyotes are moving to Quebec, so you can keep that Moronic sheep thought to yourself. Business wise they have an excellent plan. But on the ice….ugh.
