The east is going to be fantastic hockey to watch this post season. Amazing to see the arms race for talent. This does feel like a special year for the Bruins, but we all know the playoffs can be a different animal.

Will be interesting to see Bertuzzi get his first NHL playoff action. Was good on a 2014 OHL championship winning team. Was AHL playoff mvp in 2017.

80% of the big names traded in the last 15-20 days have gone to BOS, TOR, TB, NYR, NJD. At least 2 of those teams will have their post season end on 10 days or less. How messed up is that for the league and it’s fans? This playoff format stinks!

I know teams would piss and moan about travel, but I would support a 1-16 format. The best of the best should go to the show. If those two teams are from one conference, so be it.

I’d agree and would say take things even further. Get rid of conferences all together. Then do away with the lottery and go to the gold plan.

Certainly is a lot simpler. Would keep the rule where if you draft 1st overall, you cannot attain the first overall pick for 5 years after. That helps prevent another Edmonton scenario.

I like divisional rivalries. There needs to be more games against teams that are closer by. If they chose to go 1-16, but also keep conferences, it might make more sense to do a north/south conference instead of east/west.

Of course this will never happen, because owners will female dog about travel costs.

I like playing every team at least once, however how about just one time per year. Alternate who gets the home game every year.

Agreed. In theory you could save money as well by only taking those dreaded west coast trips once every other year.

Also in theory, much higher travel costs in the playoffs potentially depending on the matchup.

Maybe institute a rule that if a playoff matchup requires changing time zones, there cannot be any back to back games. Travel between cities during those matchups also receives one extra day. (might extend the length of the playoffs a tad potentially)
