Got a feeling our building is going to be loaded, like 65 - 70%, with Ranger fans Saturday at 5pm.

Fox clearly misses Lindgren, but shouldn't a Norris Trophy winner be better than he has been regardless of pairing?
Not saying Mikkola is Lindgren or even a first pair D. I get that Fox has to make up for that, but he hasn't been good lately.

I don't think anyone underestimates what Lindgren brings to the lineup. He should definitely be re-signed, problem will be with the term. His body might not last through the contract.

The trust built up between fox/lindgren has been created over years. In order for Fox to be "Fox", he has to know that his partner is back there ready to be an outlet and bail him out when needed. Hopefully, Lindgren gets back to full speed soon, so they can be a pairing for playoffs

Nice coaching job by Gallant. As the season draws to an end, distribution of icetime could be key heading into the playoffs.

agree. if fox needs lindgren to be great, that doesnt say much about Fox's individual play. he is an elite talent but takes risks that the partner needs to read

if there needs to be a shake up with the kids struggling, try chytil with Kane and Panarin for a bit.

Yeah, but that 2 on 1 was about as bad as it gets. He didn't have a "partner" to read anything, he had Kane! And Kane wasn't even in a position to defend, he was chasing and not gaining on the guy. Fox went after the puck carrier when he was no threat whatsoever. Has to be the worst play I've seen him make. I can't blame this one on comfort. I think he's trying to do WAY too much.

Top 9 all have the skill to be interchanged if things need to be shaken up

Almost like the game wasn't a gimme, the defensive issue are still glaring, and the Rangers were lucky to win a game in which they never held the lead.

Some might say that.

So now we like the Charts?

(Got bad news on Kane. His 5 on 5 problems in Chicago have followed him here. Rangers outscored 5-1 when he's on the ice.)

Edit: Granted the 5th one wasn't his fault.

He went from one bad 5v5 team to another.

You're not wrong. Hence why I edited it. Not Kane's fault that Miller continues to pinch and be burned over and over again.

That Fox read might have been worse than Kane's giveaway. Mistakes happen, but you can't make another mistake trying to cover it. If Fox had played the pass Kane would have likely caught the puck carrier.

Maybe. Kane certainly looked like he was trying to catch him, but couldn't. Think that also has to do with the hip. But yeah, if Fox and Miller are going to continue to be below average, team is cooked.

probably would have caught himonce the attacker entered the zone. overall just a poop play from his fumble to fox's poor decision.

kid line was awful - might have been the worst game kakko has ever played and that's saying something. he looked completely checked out.

Great blog Jan!

Definitely not the type of play we were hoping to see after some rest. But take the two points and run. That game reiterates my point about the parity being so small in the NHL. I thought the PP looked solid. It will be interesting to see how that continues to shake out. Every point is going to matter down the stretch. On to Buffalo!
