I want to hope they will sign for another year, but you were right about one thing, his post game interview was much different than last year. If he needs some kind of surgery for the herniated disc I could see him calling it quits after that. Not a fun recovery.

We will see though. A lot of work to do this off season.

Can't blame Rask for this one. No Cassidy, No Julien. There is something in this teams DNA and it goes back a long, long time. They have been a chokey, losery team all of my 40 years here. 2011 was the exception not the rule. Glad I got to see it once.

This is what this team does best. They choke and they lose and I come back the following season for another kick up the middle.

Have a good summer gents!

Bertuzzi should be a priority. He was awesome for the Bruins!

I would agree with this. He had a monster playoffs and would be great to keep around.

Bergeron finished with 0 points, -2 and more TOI than any other forward. What does it say about the team when the coach believes that a 37 year old player with a broken disc is his best option?

Him and Hall were outstanding. Need cap space. There are many guys that could walk or be traded:

Clifton - Buh-bye
Hathaway - Byeeeeee
Gryzlyck - Trade
Ullmark- Trade. Really good. Painful to even type. His value should be high. Need space, need at least one center and they have Swayman.
Foligno - Bye
Orlov - Would love to keep him. Probably can't afford him.
Zboril - Time to end this experiment.
Nosek - If you can afford him...keep him.
Frederic - Sign him
Lauko -Sign him

Then you hope one of Lysell, Lohrei, Beecher, Merkulov, McLaughlin, Lettieri or Kuntar can help you.

What options did they have? Krejci was injured too. Promote Coyle to 1C to reduce TOI for Bergeron and Krejci? If a team's 1C and 2C get injured right before the playoffs, they're probably doomed.

Yeah, this choke is not unprecedented for the Bruins.

A while back (2009?) Bruins had a 3-1 series lead on Philly and a 3-1 goal lead in game 7. Ended up losing that won too. Bruins sweeping Philly the next time did not erase the disappointment.

The coach giving injured players so much ice-time is a huge mistake. Does not matter if the players want to play. Their pride is not more important than the Teams results.

Couldn't have said it any better glove. I came to that realization in the last 3 or 4 days.

It's so on brand for the Bruins to pull this. "Hmmm....how can beat blowing a 3-0 lead to the flyers in 2010?" "How about we set every NHL single season record, go up 3-1 against the 8 seed, lose 2 straight to bring it to game 7, battle back from a 2-0 defecit, lead 3-2 with under a minute left, have them tie it when they pull the goalie, and then we will lose in overtime. At home. Again."

I'm less embarrassed to tell people I'm a lifelong Detroit Lions fan at this point. Let that sink in.

Swayman needs a new contract. Maybe willing to accept a bridge? Would love if Orlov stayed. Would even be willing to keep Hathaway if the cost is under 1.5m.

Ullmark is a tough call. He had such a good season but it might be a move you make if it lands you a first rounder in this draft plus some. I have a difficult time seeing them doing that but you never know.

Also if there are ANY takers for Reilly that would be great but I wont hold my breath on that one.

The rest of what you suggested is along the lines of what I was thinking. Have to think they will make a play for a center either via trade or free agency if they know Bergy and Krejci are done for sure. Zacha and Coyle might not be the greatest 1-2 punch to start next year.

I would've kept them out and I was all for it. Without Bergeron and Krejci they had a formula that was working. Could've rested them both and taken care of this series. The media, fan, and even player flak gets wiped out when you win.

Yeah I get this is probably too practical and cutthroat for most folks. It's my nature, I guess. Ullmarks value will probably never be higher than it is right now. It's ice cold but Sweeney doesn't have a lot of moves to make.

Thing about that is you know what you're getting, right? The Bruins go on a run and they take this whole town with them. The other teams don't even come close to captivating folks around here during the post season other than the 2003 and 2004 Red Sox. They make you believe right before they choke.

Not knowing their injuries, it's hard for me to criticize. I do agree playing Bergeron so much proved unwise. I just find it unreasonable to expect any team, even an extremely deep one like this Bruins team, to capably replace their top two centers successfully for the entire postseason. Colorado lost to Seattle due to injuries as well. No team can overcome massive injuries.

Its a fair point. "hey our goalie just won the Vezina, who wants him? "

That would be icy cold indeed. Just like Cassidy. "your job is fine" (next day) "I gotta let you go man".

That being said if you want a first rounder in this draft, that might be the way to get one. Who knows what Sweeney will do.

Its a salary cap league, and they just traded a bunch of draft capital. Would be a good chance to restock.
