Evander Kane with 24 PIM last night. Oilers are a wagon but series still could go 7. |

What are we bickering about today?
Torts?
The unspoken man crushes that we have between some folks on this board?
Briere?
The draft?
Torts again?

Fingers crossed for No.2 tomorrow night. We’re due for a break, but not the whole deal. Totally on board with Fantilli. |

Hoping the Flyers draft lottery goes chalk or they move down a slot. Reinforce the idea to management that this is going to take awhile. No quick fixes.

2nd overall has not been good for the Flyers. If the Flyers draft Fantilli 2nd overall, he will play one year and lose interest in playing hockey and quit the game to go overseas to work for a charity or some other nonsense. |

I just want the draft lottery to be over with. I’m sick of web sites and this board trying to convince me we’re moving up to a top two draft pick. Seriously, it’s physically killing me. |

Agree that it hasn’t. Maybe just maybe, the third time will be the charm. Not making any bold predictions, trying to stay optimistic. |

From the penguins draft blog
10. Philadelphia: The chief rivals can’t fall too far on this list from the Pens’ perspective. Bedard playing for John Tortorella, at least to start his career? Yeah that sounds like no fun. The Flyers have squandered everything they’ve touched in going on 50 years, let’s hope Bedard isn’t the next case that they somehow ruin. This organization could foul up a one-car funeral procession, there’s no good reason Bedard should be subjected to their assortment of ineptitude. The Flyers deserve no good things or fortunate breaks like winning such a major lottery like this season. Let them win it in a future year when the next Nail Yakupov or Alex Daigle comes along.
I can't even argue it 😂😭 |

It's pretty much spot on. Bedard has to play on the 4th iine and can't play on the PP until he learns to play the right way. Not worried about points. If he learns that, the points will come. |

Only this organization can screw up a generational talent. I can't even argue the logic.
Damn it.
I'd ship Torts out of here without hesitation if he ever had the balls to put Bedard on the 4th line |

Due for a break? We don't deserve one. In 2017 we were given a break and totally shat the bed. |

Why does each team deserve Connor Bedard?
Philadelphia Flyers
What are the odds? 6.5 percent
When was the last time the team picked first in the draft? 1975 (Mel Bridgman, when they traded up with Washington for the No. 1 pick; they traded for 1991 No. 1 pick Eric Lindros before he played an NHL game)
Where would Bedard play in Game 1? Assuming that Sean Couturier is healthy and good to go for Game 1, my guess is that Bedard would slot in at 2C. But he certainly wouldn’t be lacking for ice time.
Who are his most likely linemates? Bedard would be a lock for a top-six role, and right now, the best guess for the team’s top-six wingers would be Travis Konecny, Owen Tippett, Joel Farabee and Cam Atkinson, assuming Atkinson successfully returns from his neck injury. Bedard’s linemates would likely come from that pool, with Noah Cates (if he returns to the wing) and Tyson Foerster (if he makes the club) as dark horses.
What year would the team return to contention with Bedard? 2024-25 (possible playoffs), 2025-26 (contention)
Why does the team deserve Bedard? Ah yes, let’s run through the laundry list of bad luck the Flyers have faced over the past four years. Nolan Patrick has his career ruined by concussions. Oskar Lindblom is diagnosed with cancer and while (thankfully) he beats it, he’s never able to recapture the form that had him on the verge of a breakout prior to the diagnosis. A global pandemic halts the team’s best season in close to a decade while the Flyers are the hottest team in hockey. The team suffers a COVID-19 outbreak while leading its division in 2020-21, and the resulting extra-compressed schedule torpedoes a once-promising season. Matt Niskanen unexpectedly retires after the bubble playoffs in 2020, and presumptive top-pair right D replacement Ryan Ellis plays just four games for the team before a torn psoas destroys his career. Kevin Hayes needs three procedures to fix his core muscle issue. Couturier injures his back in 2021-22 — months before his new eight-year, $62 million extension is due to kick in — and the first surgery doesn’t even take, forcing him to miss the entirety of the 2022-23 campaign. Farabee and Atkinson suffer serious neck injuries. Fast-rising goalie prospect Ivan Fedotov is unable to leave Russia and play for the club due to political complications. And to top it all off, they’ve watched their two division rivals in closest geographic proximity (the Rangers and Devils) win draft lotteries. Yes, I’d say the Flyers deserve a big break to go their way.
Pray to the Hawkey Gawds my friends. |
