Leafs were a top 5ish team in almost every stat and metric last season, besides PK which was 12th. The NHL is a crazy place, the Stanley cup is insanely hard to win. As a Pens fan I saw much better on paper rosters than the 2016 and 2017 cup winning teams fizzle out in first or second round and I don't think it's far fetched at all the Leafs get to the finals in the next couple of seasons. Remember when the Panthers won the Presidents trophy last season only to be swept in 2nd round... Then made it in as 8th this season because the Pens lost their second last game? Many examples of stuff kind of like this over the years.
