Thanks for the article Jacob. It's time to turn some of the core over and I'd be perfectly happy dealing all 4, as long as it's not for pennies on the dollar (except Wheeler, of course). If Montreal doesn't want to play ball, I'm trading him to a team that hurts the Habs like Boston or NYR. I think if he goes to a market like that, more than likely he re-ups. I've heard some locals like WST suggest Helle to the Kings for Byfield and a cap dump, or something similar. Sign me up for even a slight overpay for a stud center like QB. Schiefele may fit in a few places looking to put themselves over the top with some added offence, Carolina, Colorado, Seattle, Boston come to mind. Hopefully some of these moves bring back some juice to the team and it's a reasonably quick re-tool on the fly. One can hope, can't he? |

There are a lot of reports PLD would love to play for the rangers and also a move to Cali would interest him. Plenty of options outside Montreal.
I also wouldn’t rule out a shorter 3-4 year deal to stay. This would insure a second massive payday when the cap goes up in a couple years |

It’s exactly 3 weeks until the draft. Between now and then, I expect Scheifele, Dubois and hellebuyck to either be extended or traded.
One thing that helps Chevy is that the free agent class of this summer is one of the weakest ever. More teams should be looking to add to their rosters via trade rather than wait for free agency. Although sign and trades are not as common in NHL as other sports, if they can be worked out for Scheifele, Dubois, Hellebuyck…. They should be able to get good returns on each player. |

I'd like the Jets to explore bringing in Carter Hart if Helle is on his way out. Not sure what the ask is, but if it's not ridiculous it would make a lot of sense. |

Thanks for the article Jacob.
Unfortunately the Jets are dealing from a place of weakness as teams know that they need to trade some of these players.
Maybe a big trade combining two of these players to a team that needs a shake up on their roster?
I just don't believe that the Jets will get better with any trade unless Chevy can get a surprizing return for these players. |

I have lost all faith in Chevy's ability to evaluate talent. I too would be surprised if he got good returns on any of the players that Jets fans think he will.
A big part of me believes that the Jets will come back with the same roster. Chevy is not known for making big moves. He makes one significant move every 4-5 years and Jets fans believe he will make 4 in one offseason. Seems like a stretch that he will do anything. |

Here what is 99% likely
Rumours for 3 months
Juicy rumours at draft table
Press release late August we have signed Toninato to a new deal
* if we enter the season with 55, PLD and Hellybuck it could be catastrophic for the Jets in so much as the price paid will be less with no contract in place (see Timo Meir return)
jets need to be aggressive, probably between a retool and a rebuild no but be aggressive! |

I agree UJ, my prediction is only Wheels and PLD are not back with the Jets to start the year. I wish they would move them all but if you made me put money on it, id say only Wheels and PLD will be moved along.

Wheeler is not going anywhere until the deadline. Nobody is paying 4 million for him if the Jets eat half the cap space and the Jets aren't going to pay 5 to buy him out. But if they play him like crazy and let him pile up some points during the year someone will give the Jets something at the deadline.

You must have missed the press release during the playoffs, the Jets already signed Toninato to a 2 year deal.

Well, it looks like one trade scenario has ratcheted up a notch or two…..

For those that dont have the athletic, in gist LeBrun is saying PLDs agent advised the Jets he won’t extend and he’d like to be moved this summer. |

If they are going to trade hellebuyck there has to be another goalie that the jets pick up. Maybe look into trading Scheifele or Dubois to Carolina for Pyotr Kochetkov. I have watched him play a lot on Chicago on the wolves. Played really well, has an edge to his game, very passionate, very well could become an elite goalie in the near future, should also get a pick back in that trade also. |

As I posted in last blog, IF PLD is traded to LA, I'd be happy with the following deal:
To LA: PLD, Heinola, Harkins, and rights to Gawanke
To Wpg - Vilardi, Iafallo, Kaliyev (or Kupari), Pinelli and Spemce (or 2nd rd'er)
Think it is must that PLD and Wheeler are dealt with before the the draft (or June 30 in Wheeler's case) - PLD traded, Wheeler bought out.
Scheifele and Hellebuyck can be, and likely will be, dealt with after, if necessary. |
