First, if thats still a thing - Reverend Killtaker
It is. It is!
Still waiting to see who we shed to make an EK deal happen. Even if it doesn't go through I hope someone can leak an accurate list of how we'd make space by jettisoning players. |

Primarily one of Granlund/Petry going out in the deal.
Then probably another separate trade.
And then the buyout possibility on Granlund if need be. |

A bit of a deadline on a Granlund buyout. I wonder if that will change what the Pens can do about Karlsson if nothing is resolved by the end of that second buyout window |

Right but like, why the (frank) would SJ want Granlund? You pretty well have to buy him out. They'll have the same problem with him that PIT does |

DOC hearing date is 8/4. If no EK trade happens by then I would say it probably isn’t happening. |

Fair point. It's why I don't think there's any hope of the Canes actually getting Karlsson. He's still bitter about getting hosed on Burns.
Wouldn't be surprised if that's why the Meier thing went the way it did with most pundits agreeing CAR gave them a better offer than NJD did. |

I mean EK is getting traded regardless. Just seems like a big game of chicken. |

It’s actually impressive how many bad trades he’s made in such a short time. |

Or 3 more years of petry? Petry + whatever they retain from ek is basically ek. All for a first and prospect from Pitt?
Better off flipping couture or hertl |

Petry's family lives in Michigan and he has a 15-team no-trade clause. Safe bet that he has all Canadian teams and all US teams far from MI on that list, including SJ. |

Yes, that's the point. If they keep him they get nothing. But if they trade him they get assets, even if they don't save money. That's what a rebuilding team does. |

Things change when teams come to you and ask you to waive. Some players take it as an insult like “oh they don’t want me” aLa Hornqvist. |

I could be wrong but I think his wife and kids still live in MI. So unless they're willing to move, I doubt he waives to go to SJ regardless of how he feels about being wanted or not. |

Karlsson and Burns?
Nothing. They were fine. SJ just kept trying to play them together and it didn't work. |

Would SJ take a 1st, Granlund, Petry and smith / POJ and zero retention? Then give a third team picks to retain 30%.
Leaves a retention spot for when they inevitably trade Couture or Vlasic. |

If there wasn’t a potential Petry move on the table I don’t think there would be any EK talk. |

SJ still has 2 open retention slots. No reason to not retain on EK to worsen the return. |

Yeah, they'd definitely have to move him, I just doubt he'd waive to go to SJ. Could see him going to another team not in Canada or out west. |

Glad to see Letang would be stoked (allegedly) to get ek. He would remain #1D but pp QB would go to ek. |
