Karine Hains: In Hainsight: Renaming the Selke? The face of the Bruins’ franchise for 20 years announced his retirement this morning and there are numerous people arguing that the Frank J. Selke trophy should be renamed to honor him since he won it six times.

I agree on not renaming any trophies. I think it would do a disservice to the history of the game if they go that direction. His career will be remembered in the HHOF. No need to rename anything.

Tradition is an important part of the games legacy.


(Gretz would have more than 1 trophy named after him and that would be silly)

Rename them all. How the (frank) does Mark Messier have an award named after him when Gretzky, Lemieux, Howe, Orr etc don't?
